I have some questions reguarding me starting to diet for a bodybuilding contest.
I am dieting similar to the t-dawg diet. (Low carbs, high protein, high fat).
I am taking some prework out stimulants to help burn fat.(ephedra, caffine)
-Should I stop all creatine use? The creatine I use is effervecent but does not contain carbs.
-when should my carbs be taken in? I have a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. I eat small amounts of fruit, yogurt, starches throughout the day.
Let me know what you think. Advice needed. Thanks.
Carbs: oatmeal for breakfast and post workout are the two main times you should be getting in carbs. Any other carbs should from fibrous veges. if you find you strength in the gym dropping try playing around with your carbs. maybe a small amount preworkout or take some of you postworkout shake during etc.
Dont stop taking creatine. why? i have had 2 client win national titles on creatine. if you are “holding water” on creatine, it not the creatine its either not managing their salt or just a lard ass.
as for effervesent creatine… again why? just take the plain powdered stuff, Creapure/Pfansteil.
BTW ensure the fats you are getting are good fats (fishoils, flax oil etc).
About the Effervecent creatine, I take before my workout and I feel I get good results and it absorbs fast.
About the fats I take fish oils in the morning and later in the day I take 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil. Should I increase this?
Thanks for the reply.
What should post work out carbs be? Starches, rice???
What should I be aiming for in grams of carbs per day?
go for about half your carb intake post workout. source should be glucose/maltodextrin…basically high GI carb sources that absorb fast.
personally i find less than 100g per day i turn into a fruitcake zombie (im about 215lbs). but generally thats a good amount to eventually aim for (dont just cut straight to that, you’ll feel nasty).
good idea would be to read the t-dawg 2.0 article thoroughly and follow it. its a really good diet.
Thanks…anybody else?
ttt…more opinions needed.
Hey, there, motownmuscle!
Great advice from whetu. That guy definitely knows his stuff.
Read JB’s article on “Solving the Post Workout Puzzle,” I & II. It explains why you want to spike insulin PWO. The ONLY time I take in starchy carbs (sweet potatoes, rice, oatmeal) is PWO. It’s when your body need them most and can process them best.
Definitely include Surge into your regimen/approach/diet. The article above will explain why.
For the satisfaction factor, most of your carbs prior to workout should come from green veggies. Don’t forget to subtract fiber from total carbs. That will get you more veggie bang for the buck.
Limit fruit and dairy. Some people do all right with dairy, but it has a type of sugar in it (galactose) that only refills liver glycogen. Refilling muscle glycogen is the goal. What’s worse, if liver glycogen is topped off and you take in galactose or fructose, it will be converted to triglyceride and stored as fat.
If you’re following T-Dawg’s protein fat and carb recommendations and find you’re losing weight too quickly, you can always increase carbs slightly. T-Dawg is an awesome diet; my favorite.
If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
