Glad they’re working for you:) 3M makes some great products!

Hi, pch2. I’m a total banana - I bruise very easily. But I totally agree with Borrek. The parts of you that get pounded the most will eventually stop bruising.

As to your question of whether or not there will be any permanent marks from bruises, unfortunately I do seem to have them. All up and down both shins & on my right thigh where I absorb the worst roundhouse kicks.

Its faint, but there’s the shadow of bruises that healed ages ago. They just left a little ghost. And my right shin is a tiny bit bumpy now, but you can’t see it, you can only feel it.

I’ve been using Mederma scar healing gel on a bad break in the skin on my knuckle, and it really works very well.

Can’t wait to try MsM’s suggestions - off to the store tomorrow!

Please come post in the Combat Sports section, we’d love to hear from you.

For scars you want to check out a cream made with mother of pearl. They sell them at Mexican grocery stores or pharmacies and call it ‘crema de concha nacar.’

I believe the shell (I think it is ground up) contains a bleaching agent and this is why it is highly regarded for use on discolored skin.

Maybe use it with fresh aloe vera gel, taken from the leave of a real plant and not the gel sold in stores.

Also, perhaps rubbing some Vit E daily on the area would facilitate some healing process.

There, my good deed for the day is done :stuck_out_tongue:

Miss Parker,

I have those shin bumps too thanks to a few really hard sweeps catching me just wrong :frowning: I haven’t done Jujitsu in about a year, but I still have these bumps on my shin that still hurt from time to time when I run or if something hits them just wrong.

Do you have any idea what they are or if there is any way to get rid of them?

As for the bruising, I’ll have to try the epson salt soak thing . . . my husband teases me all the time about getting a note from my trainer before going to the dr. b/c he’s worried that the dr. will think I’m a battered wife! HA! That’s a funny thought . . . like I’d ever let a man lay a hand on me and escape w/ his balls intact

I don’t know for sure, but I believe they are just scar tissue. About 3 weeks ago I got a major bump on my left shin when connecting with my training partner’s kneecap on a low roundkick - a mistake, he shifted at the last second. The lump is still huge & numb, my instructor thinks the continued numbness might be nerve damage. :frowning:
I’ll be interested to see how it heals.

Christietracy, you are incredibly beautiful, by the way! I downloaded your avatar & put it in my file of inspirational photos (I hope that’s okay). I’m working toward having a body like yours!

Wow - Thanks (she says blushing!) . . I’ve got a secret weapon though- I’m married to a photographer. You’d be amazed at how much lighting and shadows can add to the look of definition in a photo

And to be honest, I’m using it as my motivationa pic for now too b/c I let my diet slide a little (okay . . . a lot) over the last 6 months and put on about 15 lbs of “winter weight”.

Easy enough to take off (I’ve done it countless times for figure competitions), but still need the motivation to get back on the clean eating bus!

I don’t mind that you downloaded it at all, but please don’t post it anywhere - we’re considering submitting it to a few fitness magazines and supplement companies once I’ve finished cutting this time around.

I saw you live in Texas by the way. Me too - Corpus. Do you mind me asking what part you’re in?

No way, I’d never post anyone’s photo without permission.

I’m in Austin. Holy cannoli, Corpus is the most humid place I’ve ever been. Nice beaches, though! There’s lots of Texans here at T-Nation, I’m happy to say.

Anyone have any suggestions for a big bad burn?

It is extremely painful :frowning:

I get these often from my games and everytime it leaves a scar that looks like a bruise or a scar that is lighter than my own skin color.

Gross picture attached.

I had some road rash like that once, on both legs. One I let dry out, the other I tried to wet heal with a crap load of Neosporin and keeping it under wraps.

They both scarred equally. Sorry, and OUCH!!!

It hurts so bad.
The picture doesn’t even do it any justice.

everyone was asking about it at the gym. I told them i had flesh eating disease and watched for their reaction

I was entertaining myself

Have you tried Maderma? I get it at Wal-mart in the pharmacy section with all the bandaids and cream.

No, I will go try this.

A teammate suggested something called Tegaderm. Anyone heard of this or tried it?
