When you clean and jerk 200 pounds or more, you’ve pretty much informed just about everyone who saw it that you can pick them up and throw them…
Lately, I’ve noticed that over head pressing seems to be the lift that’s really impressive. Standing, anyways. Can’t cheat, can’t lie. Especially if it’s from the floor. Nice work.
Tony, I wouldn’t screw with you. Tried some judo once and decided I didn’t like being thrown.
Please don’t misunderstand me - I would never offer violence to anyone who wasn’t a paedophile or a tax collector. I have no skills in that area whatsoever. I would just have to take punishment until the other person got exhausted, most likely - if I survived that long. I was just imagining what is going on in other peoples’ heads.
I won’t say that I abhor violence, because I’ve not been in a situation where it has been required. It’s an option, I suppose, but it’s pretty far down my list of ones to try in resolving situations.
I wasn’t implying that you have a violent nature. Just that common sense would dictate that we not try to find out
Everyone has skills, they just vary from person to person. And I think that being able to take a beating, until your opponent is too tired to function, qualifies as a skill. I once saw a gent win a UFC-type fight utilizing that exact strategy.

This thought actually occurs to me quite often, because I quantify the weights you guys lift over here with the question “how many kimbas is that?”.
Looks like belt squats, leg press, chest-supported rows and seated presses for me for the next few weeks. Light kettlebell swings for rehab. It’s not as bad as it could have been since I stopped lifting immediately - but I’m going to be walking like a robot for a while.
