You might try something different like lifting a loaded weight stand. I saw some guy at the gym today with a homemade version in his lap. He didn’t get very far with it, but I think he had the right idea unless he was thinking of walking out with the weights or something. I gave him the “oldman eye” in case he was thinking of boosting those plates out of the gym.
how do you feel doing snatch grip- seems I am much faster off the floor
I am curious about carry over, pulling 405 last week or so snatch grip
should make my conventional move or not.

I feel awful doing snatch grip deads. I do not like them sam-I-am, though they went better than last time I tried them.
I’m hoping the combo of rack pulls from my weak range and snatch grips addressing the pull from the floor will get me to 550. The increased range of motion from snatch grips also lets you grind out a heavy and slow conventional DL is my thinking here.
I don’t seem to have a lockout problem. I’m also going to use high pulls or cleans or even snatches (depending on how nad-full I am at the time) on alternate pull days to let the back recover a bit each microcycle.
I’ll be dropping back to 4 singles next session and working back up to ten in the following weeks. Yes - I’m attempting Hepburn’s program again, with tweaks inspired by my own lifting over the last few months.

Yep - the Audrey Hepburn program. Lose 50 lbs in 5 weeks, become more feminine and famous.
Doug Hepburn was a Canadian Heavyweight Olympic weightlifter and strongman on a par with Paul Anderson. Some say he was stronger than Paul. He devised a simple but surprisingly difficult program for gaining strength and size.
Use the search function of the site and search for “twiceborn,” or “Mike Mahler” or Hepburn. This twiceborn fella got his training advice from Hepburn directly and he only posted on the Hepburn Program thread.

Stronger than Paul Anderson?? Sacrilege!!
Hepburn beat Anderson every time they competed, which was like twice. Later, Anderson did his strongman shows and got even stronger than when he competed in weightlifting.

Thank you sir. I looked it up, bookmarked it, and will probably use it over the fall and winter. Of course, I’ll have to keep my Kool-aid handy, just in case
@ home
Clean and Press (@ home)
115x5
135x3
155x3
165x3,3,3,2,1 (These were really hard for some reason)
@ gym
Power Cleans
135x3
155x3
185x3 Tried a press here and it felt strangely similar to the ones I did at home. Hmmmmm…)
205x3
215x1
225x1,1,1,1 (PR sets, I think)
Close Grip Bench (paused, 1-count)
135x5
185x5
205x3
225x1,2,1,1
That be all. Think my home weights weigh more than they say. Triple presses were super hard with even the 1st rep being difficult. I tried a press single at the gym and 185 felt just like that first rep with what was supposed to be 165 at home. So I dunno…

Nice work in here, DCA. I am curious why you are going back to the Hepburn program. You did not seem all that thrilled with it last time, as I recall.
I’m going to use it as a base this time around, but screw with it as I feel I need to
When you clean and jerk 200 pounds or more, you’ve pretty much informed just about everyone who saw it that you can pick them up and throw them…
Lately, I’ve noticed that over head pressing seems to be the lift that’s really impressive. Standing, anyways. Can’t cheat, can’t lie. Especially if it’s from the floor. Nice work.

Tony, I wouldn’t screw with you. Tried some judo once and decided I didn’t like being thrown.
