CT Fletchers Real Ass PT Certification

Why all the CT Fletcher hate? Granted I dont think his cert compares to the other accredited ones that are nationally recognized. But I like his philosophy of doing rather than studying a book and taking a test to pass. He wants to qualify people from experience not what they can memorize…

I don’t think people hate CT at all really. I think most people enjoy his philosophy of stop talking and just do it approach. I know I do. I just thought it was interesting he was charging 2500 dollars for his cert.

I can’t fuckin stand CT Fletcher. With that said 2500 is ridiculous. I went to a seminar with Stan Efferding about a month ago that was 3 hours long and even got to pull with him for 50 bucks and I learned some stuff. 2,500… What a joke.
It is, I mean I only charge 2000/hour and 20k/day. His prices are way too cheat.

Yes, I’ve gotten more animated and “obnoxious” after I first started being filmed, but I think that is more he is getting more comfortable. Or, maybe he has been re-reading 48 laws of power.

I assure you this is not an act for the camera, I trained there for two years and this kind of stuff was literally the run of the mill days over there… Squat parties, Big Rig pulls, strong man days, “rep offs” where 20 people would grab a pair of dumbbells and CT or Rob would just yell “Rep” every 2-3 seconds until the last person was holding a pair of bells. Prowler sprints with gas masks on.

It’s a truly crazy ass gym environment.

I think the “cert” is just to show you learned how to train your ass off and beyond, I really don’t think many “regular” gym goers have ever seen anything like what goes on in that gym on a daily basis.

Went to the gym before work today and a kid there brought up Fletcher in casual conversation. Not this specifically, just some of his training ideas. The guy’s obviously fairly well known and is trying to milk his 15 minutes. In a year or two he’ll be a forgotten YouTube hero so he might as well cash in while he can. You also gotta understand his target audience is 15-24 year old morons with more (of daddy’s) dollars than sense.
With all that goofy shit going on I’d like to know if that gym produces any champion powerlifter/strongmen/bodybuilders/cross fitters etc

Champions as in #1 best in the world I am not sure, but the gym is stacked top to bottom with competitors and guys with 500-600+deads and squats. Every month multiple people there are competing

The owner Eddie Avakoff is an endurance champion many times over

Thad Coleman is ranked #8 in geared total I believe

One of the gals there, Liz Freel, is I believe a multi wild record holder. I’ve seen her bench 315 and dead and squat 5 plates and she is not fat about it one bit, traps for days.

Obviously there’s Mike Rashid, Rob, CT etc… I’ve seen this group and their trainees do crazy stuff and give people some amazing transformations.

I’m on mobile otherwise id link stuff but you can search if you want.

I don’t want to make it sound like the greatest gym ever full of mutants but I did train there for years so I have an inside track on it and can offer first hand knowledge which is always nice.

New video from yesterday, featuring very-not CT Fletcher. The former pro triathlete and experienced CrossFit Games/Tough Mudder/Spartan Race competitor (and owner of Metroflex) explains what attendees are in for.

Also, apparently we’re all misunderstanding what a “certification” is. From the video’s info section:

"SOME OF YOU MISUNDERSTAND THE “CERTIFICATION”. ITS NOT FOR YOU BITCH MADE MUTHAFUCKAS LOOKING TO USE THIS TO GET A JOB, OR PUT ON YOUR RESUME. THIS IS FOR YOU, TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF! TO SAY YOU FUCKIN’ SURVIVED CT FLETCHER’S 5-DAY TRAINING CAMP, TO SAY YOU DIDN’T FUCKIN’ QUIT, THAT YOU TRAINED WITH THE BAD MUTHAFUCKAS AT METROFLEX LONG BEACH & FINISHED!

HEED THIS WARNING MUTHAFUCKAS, THIS IS ONLY FOR THE BADDEST OF THE BAD, CONSIDER THIS “SEAL” TRAINING FOR IRON ADDICTS. YOU’VE ALL SEEN PERSONAL TRAINERS WHO LOOK LIKE THEY NEVER EVEN SEEN A WEIGHT, AND THE TRAINER WHO LOOKS LIKE THEY NEED A TRAINER, WELL IF THEY SURVIVE MY COURSE, YOU CAN DAMN WELL BE SURE THAT MUTHA FUCKA IS “MORE THAN QUALIFIED” TO GET YO ASS IN SHAPE!

FUCK THE RESUME, THIS IS FOR YOU TO TAKE THIS PERSONAL CHALLENGE. TO BE MASSTERPLAN CERTIFIED ISN’T FOR A JOB, ITS FOR YOU, ITS TO PROVE YOU TOOK MY MUTHAFUCKIN’ CHALLENGE, YOU DID NOT QUIT, YOU A SIDEWALK-CRACKIN MUTHAFUCKA AND YOU TRAINED WITH THE REAL HARDCORE MUTHAFUCKIN’ IRON ADDICT ATHLETES AT METROFLEX."
But they have violin battle rope chains…

He’s already been around for the past 20 years, and he has been on the internet for the past 4 years.
And no one knew who he was until a year or two ago when he posted the “Strongest person you’ve never heard of” vid. Notice how he’s gotten progressively more animated and obnoxious?
yaaa but…

CT addressed this in one of his videos. He said that in the early vids he was told to tone it down. He said that what you see now is his REAL personality that came from growing up in compoton.

It’s all a show if you ask me, like come on dude, that shit would get awful tiring to keep up that screaming and shit all the time.
That’s funny, 'cause the dude from the “…never heard of” vids seemed like a cool guy. I can’t watch any of his newer stuff 'cause it’s all of the same obnoxious shit. That guy’s a jackass.

Thanks Lonnie at least we have someone with some real world interaction confirming what is going on. A lot is lost on the internet.

Man, even his typing is obnoxious and stupid.

Every time I see his beard:

I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy… CT is nothing like his videos IRL.

He’s a really cool guy.

Yes and no… Obviously he doesn’t stand in line at the grocery store yelling at clerks “HERES YO MUTHA FUCKIN CHECK YOU HIP HAVING, BON BON EATING MUTHA FUCKA!” but in the gym his YouTube persona is alive and well. He has 2 sides to him and both are genuine and real.

That was an excellent article and definitely makes some very underrated points. We hear a lot about how a good coach should have been an amazing athlete and if they couldn’t deadlift 1000lbs themselves that they couldn’t seriously coach anyone. I’ve always thought that was faulty reasoning and specifically looked for coaches who could actually coach.

Thanks for posting this. It should go in the powerlifting section as a good reminder for all of us.
