I’m typing this with one hand as only about 5 hours ago got in a full front end collision with another vehicle and broke my left hand. I have had to get creative before to work around injuries but wanted to know if there was any validity to a transfer effect from one side to another if working strictly unilaterally? Another words, if I perform flat one-arm db presses with my right will there be a positive effect created in the left pec? I remember reading this before and would appreciate some feedback. Either way, I’ll try it and post results later.
Prock,
Check out Eric Cressey’s Rhode Island Recap (Late 2003) in the archives. He reviewed a study supporting the effect you are describing. More than one study have supported the cross-lateral benefit of unilateral training while injured. Good luck.
