Critique Diet Foods/Training Please

please read this all as im now fully open to taking in new ideas.

im making my eating habits lean more toward high protein, moderate carb, low fat. my idea is to eat like a horse and train like one…my training routine is as follows:

warm up 1 mile HIIT .10 intervals on an elipticle, 1 mile isnt much for me and i have a ton of energy for weights, it just gets the blood pumping.

then i go onto an upperbody workout routine, which i switch up quite alot to “keep the body guessing”

after this i’ll end with another strong 1 mile HIIT on elipticle.

go home and eat, then ride the stationary bike 20 miles…i do this sort of strange though, .10 mile intervals at level 1 resistance, level 2 resistance, then max level 10 resistance. when its on level 1 and 2 my speed is about 22 mph, when it hits 10 resistance its alot slower around 16 mph.

reason for this is i feel levels 1 and 2 build endurance…and maximum level feels like im doing the squat machine for a few reps.

****ON TO THE DIET::

now it varies slightly every day, but here are the staples of it.

breakfasts is things such as::: apple, veggies, eggs, protein shake.

snacks such as: beef jerkey, tuna, fat free cottage cheese.

lunch/pre workout: tuna, veggies.

post workout: protein source such as chicken or tuna, kidney beans, peas, broccoli.

thoughts on food choices/ nutrient timing is really what im looking for here guys. i got calories and portion sizes down. thanks!

anyone?

Horses eat oats you know. They probably eat fat too. Lots of it.

What kind of horse one that roams the plains in the wild or one on a farm…

Eiter way lots of alfalfa, hay, grass, and for a special treat apples and carrots. They usually do alot of hitt and nepa(walking, grazing).

Those are the basics of eating and training like a horse I hope that helps.

sorry, I lol’d…

TO the OP, what are your goals?
I pretty much eat/train like that too, but I’m trying to lose fat…

goals are to get body fat from 12 to 8 then bulk

Hey Tplet, look into carb cycling.

will do, carbs and protein in the form of a chicken breast and a ton of broccoli PWO also.

There really aren’t any significant carbs in broccoli for pwo.

I personally would have a base set of nutrients for every meal except peri workout.

IMO

  1. add a tsp of evoo or fish oil to meals that do not contain meats with a significant amount of fat.

  2. pwo add Surge or whey with grape juice.

  3. I like to add BCAA’s during workout while dieting. Thib recs .2g per pound of bodyweight.

Do you sqaut or dead?

Wow I missed that.

What I said but more of it… EAT!

I think this is the kid that made a thread about doing a fast for some crazy week or two to cut weight for wrestling. Kid obviously has problems eating…please take into note when responding to his (unhealthy) request to cut weight.

EAT UP KID.,

I’ve read two prior post from this kid; he’s a wrestler and he was first trying to cut weight and had no idea how to eat. The forum advice has helped him (a little bit) but it’s obvious from his OP that he doesn’t understand at his size and age and with his metabolism, there is no difference between 12 and 8% body fat. He’s trying though, I’ll give him that (everybody’s gotta start somewhere).

This kid would grow like a weed if he would stop worrying about % of BF and just eat and lift. He could even lift on a poorly designed program and still grow with some good eating habits and even cheat 3 or 4 times a week. I personally think the wrestling thing has messed with his mentality, these kids get programed one way by coaches that are only interested in them making weight and not their health; but that’s just a guess, my own personal opinion.

To the OP, you need to find out your maintenance calories (several free calculators, google BMR calculator) and add 500 calories a day from your baseline number until you start seeing results. At your age you’ll burn most of it up b/c of how you train, etc. (in regards to your training, it needs fixed as well).

Squat, bench, deadlift, bb curl, rows, presses, dips, compound movements need to be your focus.

Eat more carrots.

I am pretty sure that what Arnold said was “calories” and not “carrots.” He does have an accent and calories would make more sense. Either that or Zach Braff is full of shit and he made up that story for the sake of television.
