Pull-Ups: 16/12/11/10/9/7
Push-Up Mechanical Drop Set: 30/10/7/7
Pull-Aparts: Rest-Pause to 100

Upped the pressing and chinning volume, and tried something simpler for assistance today. Felt really good on both fronts, I’m going to stick with this.

TPWiaB W1D6: Anticlimactic Return to Deadlifting

Deadlift: 3x5@325
A bunch of tempo BW back extensions
Walk ~4 miles

Back started giving me some warning signs pretty quickly, with what should be (and moved like) light weight. Don’t think I hurt anything, but I think I’m gonna have to keep holding off on reintroducing deadlifts. Backup plan for this day is DE (box?) squats, so that’ll be in next week.

Honestly, I won’t mind focusing on my squat/press/chin for a while. And it’s annoying to have to keep switching things up, but those three are all getting steadily stronger, so from that perspective we’re doing well.

Between the assistance stuff yesterday and the main work today, we’re now looking at something like this for Tue/Wed:

Which is nice because it gives me four days in a row each week where most of my work is either BW, cardio, or DE, so I’ll be ready for when the first three days of the week roll around and it comes time to move some heavier weight.

Incline Walk: 60:00 @ 3.5 MPH @ 12%

Haven’t done this one in a while. Still mostly a matter of keeping myself distracted for as long as possible.

96% on my honors English lit II essay, 100% on all of the journals and mini-writes so far in that class. Will be heading back to MD for Spring break tomorrow, and getting lifting done before I head out.

Weight: 187.5 (PR)
I was expecting to have lost weight because of the sort of leanness I’m seeing in the mirror. Very happy with this. Still not anywhere close to where I’d consider cutting - I spent a really long time stupidly lean before I started this log, and this is much more enjoyable.

Done nice and early - now I just need to get down as much quality food as I can before heading out to the airport. Crazy chest pump from all the DB work.

Chin: 5x5@52.5
Power Shrug Drop Set: 405x9/315x15/225x32/135xReligious Awakening
OA Cable Row: 3x10@90 (180-ish on Bama machine)
Hammer Curls: 25x20/20/18/16/13

Very solid day - chins are feeling easier week by week, and we’re getting close to PR territory there again. Going to stick with this weight next week on cable rows, because trying to draw comparisons between the two machines, one of which isn’t even designed to be used one-handed, would be dumb.

Seeing my family in-person for the first time since early January is cool because of how many “oh my god you got huge” comments I got in the space of an evening lol. Same for a few wrestling friends who haven’t seen me since like thirty-five pounds ago.

First off, this is just flat out impressive. Those are strong chins for anyone, but doing it for 5 sets, ESPECIALLY after you’ve added so much bodyweight, is just the epitome of quality work. Love to see it, nice work brother.

Secondly

Glad you’re able to make a trip home. I remember in the not so distant past you mentioning some rougher times in family life, so just want to throw out that if ya need anything, I’m only a couple hours away in VA. Hopefully everything is great, but just wanted to offer incase things went sideways.

Thanks! Chins have been responding really well to what I’ve been doing lately, so I’m just hoping to ride the pattern to some PR’s soon. A 100+ pound rep should be in the near future

I really appreciate the offer, that’s very kind of you. So far, though, so good. Winter break was about a month long and went without too much trouble, so I doubt this week will be bad. Some time away from eachother has helped everyone cool down, and things seem to be going well on that front. Again though, I really appreciate it and will reach out if I need anything.

Food!

Steak and potatoes, a chicken burrito, and chips and queso. Went to a Mexican restaurant that I’ve been craving since going to Bama, and decided to have two dinners because steak isn’t the sort of thing one refuses.

Bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon, Greek yogurt, milk, four egg’s with Parmesan.

Not pictured is a big bowl of frozen veggies with Parmesan, and milk throughout the day.

TPWiaB W2D3: Squat

Zeno Squat: 315x6 (PR)/3/2/1, 275x6 (15 Deep Breath Rest)
Seated Leg Curls: 130x12/11/9/8
Leg Extensions: 170x12/12/11/9

Best squat set of my life. Decided that this was going to be the heavy week of the cycle because 295 felt more like “medium” weight (295/315/275/Deload is now what we’re looking at) and proceeded to knock this out, and sink the everloving fuck out of every rep. I’ve found that the rebound I get from going deeper actually makes the squat easier than stopping at parallel-ish, and this has given me 3 PR’s in my last 4 squat sessions. Super happy with this - 315 was an 1RM when I started this log, and less than a year later it’s a comfortable working weight.

Hell yeah dude! You are crushing it on all fronts. And it legit makes me smile to see you hitting Zenos. Just so inspired by you.

I just realized that I totally blanked on thanking you for coming up with the original idea - it’s still pretty early on, but they’ve been letting me get in some really good work these past few weeks. At some point I’m gonna have to make myself do the version where I keep halving reps and stripping plates until the bar’s empty

(Just spitballing here, but the week before I deload would probably be a good spot for that. Make myself earn the easy days lol)

Dinner tonight: rice & chili with BBQ pulled chicken and cheese, chicken noodle soup with eggs and additional BBQ pulled pork, Greek yogurt, pepper Jack cheese.

Lunch was a double carnitas chipotle bowl. Noticed some stretch marks on my triceps and lats this evening, which was cool. No training today because I’ll be doubling up tomorrow - AM lifting and PM biking.

Pull-Aparts: 100 Rest-Pause

Superset everything with pointless posts on PWI (note to self: don’t.)

Think I forgot to mention how the push-up drop set works last week - I do a set near failure of decline (using a plyo box), then normal, then incline push-ups with a couple seconds rest between each to change positions. Lights up my triceps pretty solidly.

All in all though, a pretty good session.

Freezing cold out, but this was still pretty enjoyable. I end up missing my bike more than most people I know in MD lol.
