Thats a good jump mate. Nice work
5/3/1 W14D5: Conditioning
Warm-Up: Incline Walk, Jog ~.25 Miles, Dynamic Stretching
Track Run: 1 Mile in 6:03 (Non-Twink PR)
Curl Up in a Little Ball and Try Not to Vomit
Bench, Deadlift, Push Press, and Mile PR’s this week. We’re getting somewhere good.
5/3/1 W15D1: Bench
Bench: 5x45/95/115/135/150, 10x170 (PR)
CG Feet-Up Pause Bench: 3x5 @ 150
RP Kroc Rows: 120x20+9+5 (PR)
RP Pushdowns: 85x15+6+4
RP Decline Sit-Ups: 45x16+11+8
Solid day. Happy with the top set of benching, and assistance went smoothly. My right shoulder felt a bit iffy from the first couple warm ups - not sure what caused it, but evidently it’s not getting in the way of performance.
5/3/1 W15D2: Rest
Walk ~45:00
Pull Aparts
5/3/1 W15D3: Squat
Squat: 5x45/135/185/225/255/285
ATG High Bar Squat: 5x5 @ 225
Chins: 5x3 @ +67.5 (PR)
RP Leg Extensions: 200x12+7+4
Solid day - my legs are probably going to feel like I got hit by a car tomorrow. Very pleased with how my weight chins have been coming along, too. I head back up to Maryland in about a week (on Saturday, which makes scheduling training around it pretty easy) after my exams are done.
5/3/1 W15D4: Conditioning
100 Stair-Climber Floors in 20:15 (PR)
Sleep has been a total mess the last couple days, between studying for my chem final tomorrow and being out until 4AM last night with my boyfriend, but I set aside some time to get this done. Not too difficult.
5/3/1 W15D5: Press
Press: 5x45/75/95/115/130/145
Clean & Press: 5x5 @ 130
Pull-Aparts: 4x50
(Not) Poundstone Curls: Bar x70/32
Didn’t have a PR in me today, which is honestly not too surprising. Ended up doing well enough on my chem exam to secure an A in the class, which was the only one where my grade was borderline at all. I’ve put myself in a position for bio/art history/Calc where so long as I get at least a 70/85/75, I’ll get an A/A+/A+ respectively and finish the semester with a 4.16 GPA, which I’d be very pleased with.
5/3/1 W15D6: Conditioning
Stair-Climber: 100 Floors in 18:21 (PR)
Kept a very solid pace here, ended up gassing myself pretty well. And although this helped somewhat, my legs are still very sore from squats earlier this week - especially my adductors. I’ve also been getting hamstring cramps lately, which always seem to happen with the worst timing possible lol.
Calc exam went well enough that I’m confidant my final grade will be >100%. Really in the home stretch right now for the semester.
5/3/1 W15D7: Deadlift
(Conventional) Deadlift: 5x135/225/275/315/355 (PR? Not really one worth dragging about, but I never pull conventional so this was technically one)
Fat Gripz Deadlift: 10x1 @ 265 (PR)
WG Pull-Ups: 10/9/9/8/7
RP Back Extensions: +45x20+13+9
Ended up with a 52/53 on the Calc final, so I finished with a 102.5% in the class, and probably ruined the curve for everyone else. Now I just need to finish strong in bio and art history tomorrow.
W16D1: (Cut Short) Bench
Bench: 3x45/95/115/135/160, 180x6+2+2
CG Bench: 2x5 @ 160
Kroc Row: 1x8 @ 120
(Later): Deep Water Ab Circuit
3x(20 Sit-Ups + 1:00 Plank)
The gym here is now on a holiday schedule, which I didn’t realize until getting there. All the lifting got crammed into ~15 minutes, but since I’m leaving tomorrow morning the new schedule doesn’t really matter much. I wanted seven on the top set, but I’ll take six. Now that finals are done, I can get back to sleeping a more reasonable amount and hitting more PR’s. I feel pretty sore and beat-up, so it’ll be much appreciated.
Got a 104.5% on my bio final, which was enough for an A+, and a 102.5% on art history - both enough for A+’s, for a final GPA of 4.25. So at least the shitty sleep accomplished something.
Amazing stuff. Good job.
After your blog post today mentioned both airport food and gas-station-pre-prepared-hard-boiled-eggs, I feel like I should show off my airport lunch
Get to yes moment right there
Just skimmed your log; I’ll echo @T3hPwnisher’s sentiments too: it’s awesome to see younger guys getting after it with the knowledge of those prior.
Excited to see where you end up, man.
Outstanding work! Way to “get it”
It is posts like these that make me believe that maybe the human race has a chance. This stuff isn’t really hard but most people just either don’t try, don’t care or just plain don’t get it.
@kdjohn Nice to have you on board, dude!
@simo74 I don’t know, I’m still pretty pessimistic about the human race’s odds. Although less people means more eggs for me, so it’s still a win/win
W16D3: Squat
Squat: 5x45/135/185/225/235/265/300
ATG HB Squat: 5x5 @ 235
Chins: 5x3 @ +70
RP Leg Extensions: 200x13+9+5
First full day back in MD, and this was a great workout. Top set of squats moved ridiculously well, and I know I had at least 8 if I wanted to take it to failure and take pauses to breathe. First set of squats in quite some time that makes things seem like they’re going in the right direction on that front. If this keeps up, 315x5 will be very doable when it’s time.
I went out to lunch with my brother and his girlfriend, and got a full English with smoked salmon, which was fucking incredible.
Where tf did you get that breakfast? Seriously, last time I had a good English breakfast, I was in England. I spent 4 years living in MD, never found a good spot lol.
I absolutely love blood sausage. Tbh, still not 100% sure what it is, I know it turns off a lot of people, but damn it’s tasty
It was at a place called Duke’s - technically in DC rather than MD, but I basically live on the border. It’s my first time actually having a full English, and I totally agree about the sausage.
Honestly, I felt sort of bad eating the salmon. That plate’s downright artistic.
