Since the longterms effects of creatine is not known some bodybuilders use 2 months on, 1 month off cycle, thinking that it would normalize the bodys own creatine retention and not become dependant
NikH, its been used since the 60’s

Everything I’ve read still states “long term effects still not seen as creatine is new to the market”. When I did a couple papers on it and I believe it was first discovered in the 1800’s in the wild and captive animal example I provided previously, but only first used in Olympic competition in 1992. 1993-2011 is 18 years of possible studies. I would say that is long term.
As a side note I believe I am a non responder as well. I’m pretty sure it is due to already having larger than normal amounts of creatine in your muscle cells. Just think about the captive and wild animal anaolgy.

This is interesting, I respond really well to creatine. Between 5-8lbs of water weight instantly, lifts go up within the first week or two, muscles look fuller etc.
Holy shit this thread is a clusterfuck of varying opinions! Mmmmh just like the movie “clusterfuck” with that filthy whore Ashley Blue…
Anyways, no fancy off/on/loading patterns are needed for creatine. 5g a day and you’re fine. It’s that simple.
Also, by pulling water into the muscle cells it aids recovery, so I wouldn’t call that a “side effect”.

? There’s already plenty of water in the muscle cells, how would a little more aid recovery? I think it’s a “side effect”, although a quite pleasant one.
