Creatine . . . Cycle?

I am on a mass program and have been on Creatine for about 5 weeks. Is there a time where I should cut back? Is it best to cut back on a cutting phase or keep it a constant throughout?

Two MONTHS on, two MONTHS off, has been the recommendation I’ve always heard and used.

No need to cycle it.

Really there are several article here that have stated the same. Think about it, do you cycle your beef/meat intake which also contains creatine. Also it can be a great aid in cutting helping keep energy/w/o levels a bit higher.

But never a bad idea to take a break every now and again.

Not a huge worry though,

Hope that helps,
Phill

I have read in multiple places that there has not been any proof yet that cycling creatine is necessary. Just keep taking it. 5mg max per day is all you should need; the body tolerates more without problems, but you’ll just be wasting it. On workout days, take it in your highly glycemic peri-workout drink.

you, of course, mean 5 grams… not milligrams… 5 grams is apparently what the body can assimilate per serving… the rest is flushed through the GI and out your bum bum into the potty.

To repeat what others have said, there’s no conclusive evidence that there is a need to cycle creatine… although It’s probably cool to break off it and check your progress without once in a while.

If I’m beginning a training cycle, I like to hold off on the creatine use until I build up to my stregnth limit. Then I add the creatine; this ususally helps me blast through stregnth barriers.

From what I have read, including it from the beginning should help you get through those barriers earlier. Abstaining is probably just holding you back a little more.

Does it happen to other here to be Creatine resistant?

Well, because i tried different kind of creatine and none worked even a bit on my body. I didn’t gain strenght (in fact i was gaining some before starting and it stopped when i used creatine) and i didn’t gain weight either (not even the water retention look).

i just put 5 grams in my Surge. i don’t workout every day so i believe that cycling is of no need. laters pk

As i understand it there is no down regulation therefore no cycling necessary.

There are some people that seem to be non-responders to creatine. This can be due to a myriad of factors. My biggest guess is that you eat a ton of creatine containing foods and are already at your creatine saturation point.

I meant to go to office hours and ask my professor about this but supposedly there is a negative feedback look for Phosphocreatine stores.
