I read somewhere that Creatine and Glutamine should never be taken together because they compete for the same “receptor” (that’s not my word, that’s the author’s). I take them together, and it seems to work for me, but is this wrong?
Also, I sip on the creatine during the last 10-15min of my workouts and then have a post-workout meal with about 100g of carbs in it. Is this correct?
You’re right that creatine and glutamine should never be used together… because glutamine sucks. A recent JSCR study showed no additional benefit of adding glutamine to creatine supplementation (hey, there’s a shocker).
Creatine timing really isn’t THAT critical, it’d be easier to just take it directly with the carbs. Did you see the creatine article last week? That may help too.
I think I may have answered this one too, not sure. Tracer, be sure to hit the ‘read all messages’ button. If you can’t find it there, click on ‘members’ and look up your own name. Then view all posts.
And yes, read the article by David Barr in T-mag. Glutamine is, at the very least, waaaaay overrated.
