Ddot, I read the article on adding 20lbs to your deadlift and might give some of it a try. In the absence of anyone threatening to cut your legs off with a chainsaw light rdls and ab rollouts seem like a good way to get everything firing.

I actually did sets of 3 Ab Rollouts in between each DL set last night.

Part of my issue was getting ‘behind’ the bar and pulling. Another part was mental in that I could just move the weight above my knees without wrecking my low back.

I think I solved both those issues last night. Now if I can add some true strength to ‘below the knee’ dead’s, I should be increasing my 1RM significantly.

Do you think it helped? I’m going to try it before I squat tonight.

In respect that I engaged my abs more in the lift. I mean 3 weeks ago I pulled 425, and this week I pulled 445.

Maybe I’ll squat 445 tonight. I’ll let you know how it goes for me

Good training as always. You are thinking of a bodybuilding show, you also do power lifting meets correct? Do you find that these ever conflict with each other?

As I mentioned in my thread you have a sick back man!

Hey Free,

I am thinking of doing another show. I did my first show back in October last year. 12 years after I said I would…haha.

I’ve never actually done a PL meet. I just like to lift heavy, especially the Big 3. I will most likely attempt a PL meet in 2010, just depends on what I do in terms of BB’ing.

And thanks for the compliment on the back.

Stressful day at work yesterday and today doesn’t look to be any better.

So last night the girlfriend and I went out for dinner and a glass of vino to a. celebrate her passing a test for work “with distinction” and b. destressing.

Macro breakdown suffered because of dinner (but mostly dessert - Oreo Cheesecake).

A friend of mine who works on cruise ships returned home, so the boys are headed out tonight for some tomfoolery. Not before I train Chest/Bi’s tonight.

Duh! Everyone knows you need to pump up the GUNZ before heading out. In fact, I recommend throwing a couple dumbbells in the trunk of the car, then later in the night you can run out and re-pump.

I’ll just do push ups and chin ups at the bar!

Do the push-ups on the bar and the chins from the washroom stalls.

Awww Wayner’s back? So the 4 boys back in action? That’s trouble. I saw my JerBear last night

Friday - Chest/Bi’s

Side note. I really need to control the stress levels before a workout. I’m not calm until I’m at the gym.

A. Bench Press
12 x 185lbs
7 x 205lbs
5 x 205lbs
3 x 205lbs

My right shoulder (specifically my front delt) was especially bothersome.

B. Incline SM
15 x 165lbs
12 x 165lbs
9 x 175lbs
12 x 155lbs

C. Cable X’s - Pulled Down
15 x 50
14 x 60
12 x 62.5

D. Machine Bench Press
18 x 170
16 x 190
15 x 190

E. BB Curl
12/10/11/10 x 70lbs

F. Seated DB Curls
5 x 45lbs (too heavy)
10 x 35lbs
10 (8+2 RP) x 35lbs

G. Machine Curls
10 x 90
8 x 100
12 x 80

Done and done.

Finished with some bar pushups and washroom stall chin ups later that night at the bar.

PS: Don’t attempt to play Wii ‘Big Leagues’ after a bench session. My chest hasn’t twitched that much in forever…

If you figure out how to control stress levels outside the gym, let me know. One of the reasons I’m so obsessive is that under a bar is one of the few times my head has any peace.

BTW- Nice bar training session. Did you remember to casually hit poses as you waved/pointed to people in the bar?

Diet Update.

I won’t get into the diet from the past weekend. I drank far too much (for me) and my eating was all over the map in terms of timing, so I don’t feel all that “lean” today.

My plan is to come up with 3 different meal plans and stick to those moving forward. One will be a low carb day, a medium carb day and a high carb day.

Cardio is going to increase. I’m also thinking of beginning two-a-day sessions at the gym, with compound movements in the early PM and isolation movements in the evening.

For example, Leg day might look like this.

Session #1 - Compound’s
Squats
SLDL’s

Session #2 - Isolation’s
Lunges
BSS
Extensions
GHR’s

Chest/Bi Day might look like this:

Compound’s
Incline BP
Flat DB’s
BB Curl

Isolation’s
DB Flye’s
Machine Flye’s
Incline DB Offset Curls
Machine Preacher’s

Hey man,

Just throwing something out there. I read something once about starting cardio while calories are still high, that way the body gets used to cardio and burns fat, then when the calories are taken out the body is used to it and won’t destroy muscle. I murdered that explanation but basically it spares muscle when cardio is added and then later calories are dropped. I figured if I ever dieted I’d try that. I don’t know if it is true or if you’d be interested at all in trying it, but there it is.

Yeah, that statement is definitely true. My cal’s are still a little low but I’ll be bringing them up on high days so I’m not too concerned. My primary focus is to get glycogen and protein to the muscles.

Thanks for the advice.
