Crash (lifts and stuff)

Catching up with you charlie. Congrats on the interview. Sorry you’re not more excited about the position. Still it’s good practice and it shows your resume and cover letters are solid.

NIce DLing. You look quite nonchalant about 190! It’s great to read how good you are feeling about your training. I’m happy it’s going so well. May the gains continue.

Female powerlifters? Always a good thing.

Nice job on the pulling.

nice deadlifting
sorry to hear that the job search is getting you down. i’m in a bit of a similar position, but managing not to think about it too much right now. background stress, though, for sure. hear what you are saying about training being a refuge.

Hey Charlie! That 190 did look easy! Nice job. Agreed that the hips came up a bit, but the back was indeed nice and tight. Looked great to me. Lol @ showing 185 its your bitch! Mission accomplished.

Monster is such a cutie! scwatch, scwatch

I don’t know, its been almost 2 years and I think I still have beginners gains…probably b/c I keep having to take time off for various injuries! lol!

How’s that shoulder feeling? I’m a terrible bencher so I have nothing for you there except consolation.

Good luck on the interview! Glad to see the resume and cover letter are doing their job! Woo hoo!

Hey Nads. I am going to try testing my 1RM week after next but after the interview I needed a boost so I wanted to try that weight I couldn’t get up in Feb. Ego! lol

Hey DF(I can’t call a man Dixie lol) thanks for dropping by, yep pling is the goal right now, well getting stronger anyways.

Alexus- Yep I needs the gains right now.

Maschy- Well I decided even though I am doing the monster shoulders thing I would follow my other 531 thing and deload them like usual. I will be doing bench tomorrow so I’ll have to see how the shoulders are doing. They feel fine but… and she is definitely a monster she terrorizes my little old lady kitty “Betty”

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So I did a squat day today. I was trying out a new/old accessory for squats.

Squats
65%=80lbs 5
75%=95lbs 4
85%=105lbs 3(not enough fuel)

Accessories-RDLs(I am not sure what weight I want to use but I’m going to try a heavier weight next week), squat practice(I used the de-load weights and did them in reverse 60,50,40 with shorter breaks in between and trying to get higher reps with each set)<–Legs were wobbly at the end, weighted planks(so either it was not enough fuel or the other accessories but my times sucked for this)

Job Front: Well I have another/new job. It is for a little less pay and not really what I wanted but I need the money and the hours too(getting restless).

New plan, save up money to move back to Calgary(why did I ever leave?). I’m going to see if I can manage both jobs, probably means no days off, I’ll do both as long as I can stand it.<–Get me faster to the goal of leaving.

So full time job check.
Next
-Catch up on bills
-Get a life
-Have sex
-Save money for move to Calgary
-File for divorce

^These are now on the white boards.
The first will be catching up on bills then not sure. Saving/getting a life/sex can all be taken care of at the same time, I think. Filing for a divorce needs to be a goal all by itself. I will not think of these other goals until the first is taken care of. I seem to be able to only handle one thing at a time. :-/

congrats on the job

sorry to hear it isn’t what you’d hoped for, but sounds like you have a plan. i hear calgary is a nice place to live.

my times suck on planks now that i’m trying to keep my hips down (gave up on weighting them even).

Congrats on the new job. And the goals. May they all be accomplished in short order. Transitions are so tough.

Woohoo, new job! OK, so it’s not quite what you’d hoped for, but if it helps you achieve your other goals, that’s the main thing. It sounds as though you are at a big crossroads so I wish you all the best with everything. Take your time, work things out and you’ll get there. In the meantime, keep up with the awesome training. We’ll all be rooting for you.

knowing exactly what you need to do is a great way to start moving. 1st part of the plan (job) is done. Now to move on to taking care of dirty business.

Thanks, Frenchie, Nads, Cal. I have to say PW is full of awesome supportive chicks and guys too.

Alexus- This could be why my planks have been sucking more too.

On the job front, I have decided that I will continue looking for a better paying job with better opportunities while working for the new one. I’m not saying no to Calgary because if I don’t find a better paying job here I will be leaving, so the “savings to move to Calgary” is still on, but if I can get a similar pay in BC then I will stay. No big. And I will be finishing my degree pt, if I have the money I will take a class in the fall, Communications I think.

Goal for next week call school and find out if I have enough credits for an Associate of Arts degree(2 years).

Maybe the new title should be “Crash(Life and some lifting)” lol

Friday was Bench day.

70%=65lbs 3
80%=75lbs 3
90%=90lbs 5
Next week will be reping out the old 1RM, I’ll see how I feel about posting the vid. Bench form is most unflattering for my stomach. :-/ I am vain sometimes.

Accessories: Puffy press, Pull down, OAR, weighted plank.

Good day, I was feeling a little worried about next week and reping out the old 1RM so I forced myself to do a last imperfect rep on the bench just to show myself that any sign of struggle does not mean I’m going to be crushed. lol

Also tried to use a much heavier weight for the OAR, it was mentioned in an article that using perfect form on this was not going to help with strength gains. So next week I will be testing how heavy I can go, form be damned!

This is the closest thing I have to a day off this week, half day Sundays. It wont take me long to catch up on my bills.

Grats on the job…hope something better comes. Don’t settle!

ok, I’m intrigued…OAR??

Showing the bench whos in charge…good work.

Charlie I was just watching your deadlift videos. You have short arms. I see a big bench in your future  Nice pulling though even with the vacuuming in the background.

Hi Charlie

nice pressing- and I thougt your pulls looked fine-
tight back trumps rising hips.
Congrats on the j.o.b.

Hahaha! I love how your first 185 looks like “And yep. That’s heavy.” the next one is like “Never mind. I could do this ALL day!” Excellent work!

Hey new people visiting and me ignoring the log.

Mimkins- One Arm Row with a DB. Sometimes they’re dead stops and sometime krocs(sp?)

Oruoboro- I have an advantage at something? Awesome! Yeah.

Kmcnyc- Hi thanks on the congrats.

IC- I know, yep I’m a giggler. I think I psyched myself into thinking it would be easy and then when I tried, I was like “hey that’s heavy” lol. I had a big head before that first pull.

Thanks everyone on the votes of confidence for my dl form as I will be trying for a new 1RM on Monday.

Okay this week was lots of running around during gym times so some workouts were missed but I got in my Squat day and the bench.

Squat
70%=85lbs 3
80%=100lbs 3
90%=110lbs 3, I was experiencing some knee burn at the front of my right knee, this was new. :-/

I didn’t go for more than the prescribed reps because of the knee burn. And I forgot my camera and 110 @ 3 reps was a rep pr for that weight. Didn’t even realize it until after the workout.

Accessories: RDL(still not sure about the weight, maybe a little heavier nest time), squat practice(knee burn), weighted plank.

Bench
75%=75lbs 5
85%=85lbs 3
95%=95lbs 2, 3(with a spotter) this is the old 1RM!

Accessories: pulldown, bench practice, OAR, weighted planks.

I think I found my gym time and there is a fellow lifting lady there at around that time, she spotted me on bench. So way cool.

Next week will I will have less to do during gym time so I can get in all my workouts.

Yeah the 80’s!!!

ouch, sucks about the knee. I can commiserate unfortunately.

Hopefully it is not a reoccurring thing. knocks wood ouch my head.

Nice job on that bench pr. And that is why I love 5-3-1!

Yep me too, I’m just going to stick with it until it no longer works for me. I think I have my accessories sorted out for the bench and squat. I just have to settle on a mix I like for the deadlift and OH press.

Well done on the PR
