Crash (lifts and stuff)

I want monster everything!!

Figure once I get the hormones in check, I can start doing specialization programs, etc…

GL!! Are you still doin 531?

your monster’s a cutie

Charlie, great work in here. That Monster is adorable…I am a huge sucker for the kittehs.

I think beginner gains so on for about a year, maybe 18 months. I’m starting year 3 of lifting and I’m definitely in the phase where gains are measured in 1 pound increments, if at all. Staving off discouragement is difficult sometimes, but I try to find tiny advances in each lifting session and celebrate those!

Hey Charlie,

Stopping in to say hi… No real training tips from me though. I did track my senior year of highschool, sprinting was hard hahah.

Monster is such a funny name for a cat. I love it! I like to give pets title’s… when I have a dog I am going to name him Commissioner Scribbles. “The Commish” for short.

I had a chinese fighting fish and we named him Lieutenant Williamson. “LT” for short… its just so awesome!

Mimkins- Yep still doing 531 and I think I’ll stick with it for the next while, no complaints. But once I am strong enough(vague much) I’ll maybe pic a program that is more BB focused. Not sure yet.

Hi Kimba- I feel like I’m at the “1lbs increments and small gains” in life right now. lol So I am very glad for beginner gains right now. I used to lift before and I think it was the stalling that made me not like it anymore. That’s the cool thing about TN there are all levels here.

Greg- Well the sprints are on hold for now, I love them in the spring and fall and sometimes winter(when not to wet) but warm weather makes me lazy, also I only have so much knee to go around. The only title my cat has is “The” but I like the title idea. She is so alpha though that “Sir” is probably all she would need.lol

Frenchie- She is cute but a bully. I have an old lady cat(14) her name is Betty, who she barely lets out from under the bed. Cat drama!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Okay I did Bench today and I was disappointed. :frowning:
I think the shoulder is starting to affect my bench now. grumble. Not really sure what to do. I have an interview on Tues(Yeah!!) so hopefully that will be a job that involves less driving so my shoulder can get better. Stuff to think about.

Anyways here is the lifts.

65%=65lbs 5
75%=75lbs 5
85%=85lbs 3 (right shoulder is weak/hurting)

^hey my lbs match my percentages.

Accessories pulldown machine, puffy press, oar, weighted plank

The shoulder was not hurting for the accessory stuff. Ugh! Stuff to think about I guess.

So at least I got an interview. It’s funny but I am pretty much assuming the job will be mine. lol Where did this confidence come from? Not complaining. Because it’s true! I also assume I will have more interviews next week too.

This was from the awesome soundtrack for the movie I am sam. All remakes of Beatles songs.
Eddie Vedder with You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.

that is great that you are feeling confident about the job. much much better than feeling nervous about it. really hoping that it comes through for you.

strangely enough i’ve been having trouble with my left shoulder. trying to learn about shoulder stabilization exercises that might be useful for me.

got someone to show me how to do face pulls today. we have some kind of a pulley-cable contraption where you can adjust the height of the cable. they are good. i like them. they felt (to me) kind of like a wide grip pull-up but horizontal instead of vertical. which got me wondering whether wide grip inverted rows might also be used to do a similar thing. i also tried… i’m not sure what they are called. you basically start in a push-up position and then pull your shoulder blades back together hard. then return to the start push-up position. i supersetted those with the facepulls and they felt kind of similar to me, for what it is worth.

of course i don’t at all guarantee i’m doing any of this shit correctly.

(thinking of how my plank looks precisely what the ‘this is how you shouldn’t do a plank’ vid looks like in the latest article)

I think the pushup thing is the pushup plus. Actually Lula(can’t remember the whole spelling of it lol) put a vid, in my log, with that pushup thing in it. I think it is on the page before this one or maybe the one before that.

I looked over that article about the core stuff but I’ll have to take another look.

I have no idea why but I am in an Eddie Vedder “Into the Wild” mood right now.

Rise

Society

No Ceiling

congrats on the interview Charlie

I’ve been all about “Into the Wild” lately too.

Love the kitty, even if she is ebil!
Also love the wrestling vid. I used to watch a lot of WWE (WWF as it was then) and ECW and even then, it was all catfights and lingerie matches. It got better, but nothing like the ladies in your vid.

Congrats and good luck on the interview.

Yeah it is hard to find stuff on tv that is good. It’s really because they have to make the matches very short. Then the wrestlers have to run around like maniacs and aren’t able to grab a hold of each other to chat and figure out what to do, so if someone misses a move then the whole thing looks like crap.lol

There is also TNA which has some really experienced lady wrestlers but the people who plan out the matches… I’ve seen some unnecessarily ridiculous finishes and spots that would have been clusterfucks if the ladies weren’t so experienced. Ugh don’t get me started on the wrestling. lol

Yep, I first saw it when it came out on dvd(rental) then forgot about it, but found it when I was listening to Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder stuff. I <3 youtube.

Umm no clothes allowed for the men visiting my log, sorry those are the rules.
I promise no one will take advantage of you. 0:-)

Deadlift day, finally got around to it, posting that is.

So I had an okay interview for a job I don’t want so felt like trying to lift 185lbs so something could go right. Right now all is sucking but lifting, it’s the only thing I’m making any progress in. :-/ Lets hope the job thing get sorted out before I hit a wall or something in lifting.

So This was a week 3 dl.

75%=125lbs 5
85%=145lbs 3
95%=160lbs 1 I decided soon after getting there that I was going to try for 185lbs and so decided to only do the prescribed for 95% which is 1.
I decided to just do singles for 185 as I was already hungry at this point.
185lbs 0(failed grr), 1
190lbs 1,1(I did these to show 185lbs it was my bitch lol) Take that 185 you aint nothin.
175lbs 2,1

So I saw this a 1RM practice. I will bring extra food(chocolate I think) just in case I need fuel when I test after the deload next week. I felt if I had had more fuel and was able to keep my for, it just felt not there today, I would have been able to pull more. Here are the vids

Here’s the fail, need to learn how to edit them all together, I have a disc that came with my camera but can’t find it.

Here I get 185lbs For some reason I had one arm, the one away from the camera way out along the bar??? I am grunting in this one.

190lbs, I think my ass went up but I locked it out better than the second 190lbs but in the second 190lbs I held the starting back position better but lock out doesn’t look as good.

First 190lbs

Second 190lbs

So as far as the job set back I have done some more unsolicited resume and cover letter email tonight. So hopefully I will get another interview before the company I had the interview with call back. Blah, tired now.

Oh and I forgot accessories ummm well I was kind of beat so all i got in was weighted planks and I sucked at them.

33sec, 20secs, 19secs, 17secs(I think I was being generous with this last time lol)

You made the last lift look easy. I guess some folks will point out that your hips came up a bit prematurely, but your back stayed pretty flat so it’s good in my book. You’ve definitely got more weight in you.

Good luck getting interviews. I know it’s tough out there!

I was thinking this same thing. Looks like you definitely will be getting that weight up soon. Good work

Thanks Cal and Greg. I think so to. I will be testing 1RM after next week(de-load)

Blah the job search. :-/ Trying to stay positive.
