I know this has been discussed before to some degree, but I wanted to know whether anyone had employed Poliquin’s Mega Dose Fish Oil strategy for an extended period before (i.e., 30-45g per day for 4 weeks+) and what results were experienced.
I get terrible DOMS and muscle inflammation - (I have clinically low testosterone, adrenal fatigue, insulin resistance, which all contributes) - and am wondering whether this could help with my bulk.
I am 5’6, 71kg, about 12% bf. Aiming for about 30-50g of fish oil per day; total cals is about 3300.
I think the science behind fish oil for bulking is bollocks. Fish oil is a great supplement for many reasons, but once you start this megadosing nonsense the only things trials have shown is a weakened immune system and blood thinning. Fish oil can certainly help with your inflammation, but 30-50g fish oil is likely to impede your progress more than help it. The anti-inflammatory effects of fish oil are observable at much lower doses.
as with all things i think once optimal levels are achieved all beneficial aspects will be seen…anything substantially over this is a waste. I used to mega dose fish oil and now just take 4 Flameout caps per day and have notice no difference. if you are deficient you will notice amazing changes…until you have fixed the deficiency and are in optimal range at which point you have done all you can do.
