Covini C6W (Six Wheel Car)

Looks pretty cool.

I hope Top Gear tests one of those things. I can already see Clarkson ripping it apart.

Weird, just fucking weird.

Yes… but badass… just fucking badass!

430 horsepower with a top speed of 185mph doesn’t really impress me.

Looks cool though

These are the reasons they give for the 6 wheels.

? Less risk of front tires deflating
? Less risk of aquaplaning
? Better braking
? Better grip
? Better comfort
? Better absorption of frontal impact

None of those factors are really an issue when I look to buy a car.

Put it next to any supercar, and it’s not impressive, but come on… For the average cars we see on the streets, it’s pretty impressive.

Until you have to buy tires for it.

If there was any significant performance advantage to 6 wheels over 4 we would see more 6 wheeled sports cars, this thing is a gimmick.

Rims are more expensive than tires.

That’s gotta hurt the wallet.

No doubt.

I just think it looks cool, and would be awesome to have to drive around and see the looks you get.

Electronically limited I’m thinking

It was already tried in Formula 1(Tyrell-Ford),and dumped after one season ,1976.I saw it race when I was a young 'un.

Looks like it suffered from a birth defect.

conjoined car syndrome

stupid idea…think of the excess weight and mechanical complexity.

Crap. You beat me to it. I saw it race when I was younger as well. Not live, mind you - but on TV.

I thought it was the coolest shit I ever saw.

I was watching one of those classic car races the other day on the Speed Channel - and there was one in the F-1 division.

It didn’t run very close to the front.

that’s a lot of extra unsprung weight vs. a 4-wheeled car. This 6-wheeler will have bigger contact patches and more grip up front, but that won’t really do anything to keep the tail in line where the grip matters most.
It’s cool, but I don’t think there’s any way a 6-wheel design like this could perform on par with a conventional 4-wheel setup.
