Thanks for your nice comments.
MarkKO and Myth are right. **There is benefit in taping your lifts just for yourself. You can use them to start really looking at your form which will make you more confident. You won’t see everything a strength coach or experienced person would see, but you’ll start to see things to work on. That’s good.
A lot of us are self-taught. Even Alpha pretty much taught himself just like you are doing. Watch videos, practice… You don’t have to put your lifts up on the internet. Lots of logs here are just recording training. Unfortunately there’s no longer a PM system here or I’d say just ask someone who has experience coaching if they’d mind taking a look at your form privately. It’s a little bit harder to connect like that now.
About body image, lifting can help with that because you start to appreciate your body more for what it can do. Every strength gain feels like a little victory. It’s really nice to focus on that.
Yes, there are a lot of really nice physiques here, but most people are just regular folks. Many also trying to drop a little weight, or not be so skinny, whatever. And nobody is good at everything. @BrickHead is cutting so he’s been doing sprints. He’s not a runner, and some people raz him a little about his form. I kinda love it that he’ll put it up there on FB anyway. Haha! There’s something a little bit awesome about being comfortable in your skin and just not giving a damn. And it’s serving his purpose. He doesn’t need to look like Bolt.
I’m trying to be a lot more like that. Babysteps. As you keep going to the gym over the next couple of months, you’ll probably make a few lifting friends who can help you in person.
You know this, but even of the more advanced, beautiful builds, you’re often looking at pictures of someone on a stage or all prepped for a photo. Been cutting for a few weeks at least, are water depleted, spray tanned… On an average day, they’ve eaten breakfast and have been drinking water so they probably have a little food belly, they might be pasty white so their muscle definition doesn’t show, and they’re probably shlepping around the gym in some ratty t-shirt looking sweaty. You get the idea. I have pictures of me taken on the same day where I look really built, or like “does she even lift.” Just depending on the pose and the angle, and if I’m flexing, yada yada. Everybody here knows that.
Last, those Victoria Secret models are never photographed bracing their core and giving it their “max effort” face. Haha.
