Count Flax Meal as Carbs?

I know that this has probably already been answered, but should I count the carb content of my flax seed meal intake. I’m on the v-diet and I use about 8-10 servings of flax meal a day and each serving has 4gr. of carbs. But I’ve always been told not to include that as part of my carb intake since it is fiber and not digested by the body.

I JUST started a similar thread, sorry I didn’t see yours first. Let’s see what everyone comes up with.

The part that is fiber which should be most of it no dont count it,’

Now i am very confused about the nutrition facts of cold-milled flaxseeds.

Most brands differ on the nutrition facts and i think the fiber doesnt count as calories right?

For example:

Cold-Milled GNC brand
For 15g
Calories 90
Fat 6g
Carbs 4g
Protein 3g

Cold-Milled Rexall brand from Walmart
For 15g
Calories 63
Fat 6g
Carbs 4g
Protein 3g

Both brands indicate in the bag that the only ingredient is Organic Cold-Milled Flax Seeds.

Calculating by the grams i get 82 Calories, but the grams from carbs should not be conted or what?

Nutrition labels are required to count fiber as both grams of carbohydrates and in the overall calorie content of the food. This is an FDA requirement I believe.

What we are telling you here is that in your plans no you do not need to count the fiber in either the carb gram category or in calories. You can if you want, as it usually doesn’t matter, but on the v-diet you definitely don’t want to.

Something I got from a diabetic friend was that you take the fiber amount and minus it from the total carb count. That would be the remaining carbs to plug into your log.

Wow that’s genious. I’ve never heard of that. Can you explain?
