Coronavirus - What Happened?

How do you limit the spread without shutting places down? And they haven’t shut much down.

6 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.

12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

I see nothing applicable to this crazy shutdown. Sorry.
No one(that I’m aware of) is even proposing any “survival-of-the-fittest” strategy. People are saying this is BS, and this stuff is shouldering the full blame for deaths that were caused by umpteen things.

I don’t think they can. It’s the only sensible option now, due to the massive potential risk of letting it run amok.

If and it’s a big if, we could find that this has already rampaged through a huge chunk of the population with little issue, it may allow us to relax emergency measures.

Lt. governor of Texas.

I meant people in general not necessarily those posting this second. I would say opinions on it run the gamut here to an extent as far as the right thing to do. I’m just sharing stories of what we’re dealing with in my job.

Agree with the rest although I don’t think it’s too early for to think about a small time period of significant social distancing for all at least in the US based on where our numbers are. We haven’t really even started that here at least not on the whole.

In Ontario they are shutting all non-essential workplaces as of midnight. So basically not doing that. Most things were already shut down but now it’s punishable by big fines to stay open.

I would ask why this would only apply to the U.K.? It wasn’t even the case in China where the virus originated.

So keep clubs, restaurants, bars, movie theaters, concert halls, stadiums, etc. open and somehow think that slowing the spread can still be effectively done?

I think that a lot of people are too careless when it comes to spreading sickness in general. Like they have the flu or a lung infection and just go around like it’s nothing, go have a drink int a bar and take the bus home. Maybe they will stop that shit after this.

For a moment it doesn’t hurt, but businesses need to get back in business or they will shut down forever.

Over here they are taking it more seriously. Ottawa public health was recommending that cashiers have barriers between them and the public, I was at a grocery store last night and they have a plexi glass wall at each cash register with a hole for the debit machine.

That we know of. It could well be that this disease spread far and wide and there was little evidence of it doing so outside of the extreme cases.

I don’t know either way, for the record, and until mass antibody testing occurs, no one will.

But consider that London, NYC and other major cities have a humongous amount of people who fly in from all corners of the globe. Who knows when this entered the western world?

What’s more, we have a seasonal overstretch in hospitals now that is common every winter. It could be that this exacerbated it and isn’t actually the months long disaster we imagined.

I don’t know either way, and I am inclined to support extreme measures in the mean time, I’m also open to the possibility, remote or not, that we have made a mountain out of a molehill. I actually hope we have.

The measures we’ve taken aren’t even that extreme.

You’re asking me to come up with policies for this but I’m not the one in charge. Right now eve if they opened everything up it would still be empty because people are scared. Something more limited could be done, but people who are at risk for severe complications and death definitely need to stay home.

Well, if that study is correct then there is a possibility that it didn’t even originate in China. It could be that people in Wuhan and Bergamo just have lower immunity to this virus for some reason that we don’t know yet, which resulted in large outbreaks of people with severe symptoms.

Some of the undocumented Chinese workers in Northern Italy flew back to China around New Years’ and brought the virus to Italy at the beginning of January. That’s my theory.

If the virus was in circulation earlier, we’re talking weeks, not months.

I meant globally. I can’t speak to the US response.

Which could mean a rather large spread for business as usual with such an infectious disease. Combine that with winter hospital overstretch and it could cause a severe acute crisis.

Not that I disagree with your caution here, at all.

I heard that before, but there are a lot of theories. Right now I’m realizing that we know less than previously thought. The only certain thing is that nothing is certain, we will find out soon enough.

I spoke to my father today, he is Italy. He asked me where this virus came from and I said China. He told me a bunch of idiots were saying it came from the US. Chinese damage control is working.

It’s a propaganda war. Nobody knows what really happened.

People are dying is certain.
