Since so many of you are blaming the orange man for failing to respond and anticipate the China flu I thought you would want to know, in your “genuine” attempt to determine the cause of these failures, that the previous administration had 7 years to prepare a proper response but failed to do so.
Actually they prepared a pandemic response team… Of which Trump dismantled…
Furthermore there’s a comparable difference. With influenza (or swine flu)
- the mortality rate is comparably lower
- we already had a vaccine for the flu, creating one for this specific strain wasn’t particuarly difficult
A shortage in masks during 2009s h1n1 isn’t comparable to a shortage now with a disease far deadlier, far more contagious (higher basal reproduction number)
