Coronavirus - What Happened?

Why are you so angry?

Probably this

https://therecount.com/watch/trump-coronavirus-calendar/2645515793

And the fact that he dismantled the pandemic response team because it was built by Obama… And the consistent false statements, he even botched his own oval office speech to the point wherein various people within the federal government/people who worked with the CDC had to intervene… I can give about 1000 examples

In MY opinion the man is a clown, his response to this pandemic has been pathetic. The Australian liberal party has been no better (liberal here stands for the right wing party). Trump should’ve taken action from day one… Two months ago wherein he was notified of the potential for a pandemic… Same goes for many other countries, including Australia.

They most certainly do… They’re an an authoritative dictatorship… Steeped in media censorship, human rights violations, mass poverty… The unregulated, live animal market (selling bats, dogs, cats etc) should’ve been phased out ages ago

The only reason they receive leeway for crimes such as cultural genocide (uighur Muslims… And harvesting their organs…) Is because they’ve created a monopoly regarding trade… And economic viability/cheap parts is apparently more important than human rights… So we let them literally get away with murder.

This will always be a complication present within societies that favour capitolism. It’s an unfortunate paradigm that needs to be sorted out. The argument against this stems from the fact that some of these incredibly rich folk do legitimately and honestly earn their money from the ground up, they work day in and day out for many years. Who am I to say they simply don’t deserve any money/recognition for inventing a new device that tremendously benefits society as a whole. I do believe higher taxes on the rich would be beneficial. If you’re earning 500 million per year… Getting taxed 70% still gives you 150 million per year… Why do you need more than one hundred and fifty million dollars per year etc.

Literal police checks… I’m almost never for authoritarian measures, but when the generalised livelihood regarding a majority of the populace is actually at stake (and people won’t listen)… Perhaps this is the answer. In Australia they’re contemplating doing police checks, the penalty for breaking self isolation (I believe this law was drafted ages ago) varies from state to state… But generally includes massive, massive fines or jail time + massive files.

Extreme scenarios may require extreme measures, this goes against the grain regarding many of my political beliefs, however in this circumstances when we have a dim witted populace that won’t listen (especially kids), perhaps enforcement of a lockdown is the only viable option to reduce both the burden on the healthcare system and overall fatality rate. Many of my cousins/family friends are still going to see friends/party out here and overseas despite mandated lockdowns being in place… It’s selfish and incredibly short sighted… Furthermore honing this in is the fact many of these people have elderly residents residing within their homes… Makes me very sad to see the level of callous disregard these people (MY AGE mind you) harbour towards the elderly.

My grandma who lives with us might annoy the living shit out of me… But I still love her and would NEVER let my actions put her life in danger

I’m not angry… Perhaps you’re posts are sometimes tongue in cheek (I can’t always tell). I’ve seen you call people phrases like “blubbering cunt”, you frequently make violent analogies/incredibly agressive sounding insults when describing demographics/people you don’t like.

This makes me think perhaps you’re generally angry

I get sad/irritated more often than I do angry.

I understand your thought process, but the US isn’t Australia. That stuff won’t fly here. You may get away with It in major metropolitan areas, but unlikely everywhere else.

We haven’t done this in Aus yet. Though there’s talk of it

If roadside drug/alcohol tests can be conducted in the USA so can roadside police checks (esp during a period wherein everyone should be at home)… If you’re driving one will have to explain why they’re out, provide evidence

I could argue the legality of dwi checkpoints with you but id be dragging off topic again. If thats the model, it’s not enough to stop movement. Easily avoidable. I guess what I mean to say is the measures that would actual halt movement, wouldnt work in the US without violence.

Why would violence occur en masse from door to door police checks? It should be noted despite rigorous regulations the rate of firearm ownership here isn’t exactly low. It’s slightly above 1/10th that of the USA.

You’d have to be pretty reckless/stupid to shoot at a cop if you’re place of residence is on record during the mandated check. I assume it’d be a guaranteed LONG stint in prison.

It’s simple, you’re house is checked… If you aren’t home, law enforcement comes back for you in effort to force quarantine.

Im rarely serious kid. But these hack political slime and scum reporters need to be called out on their bullshit

Sounds simple, it’s not. I’m not saying a full fledged revolt, but definitely bloodshed. Between gangs, militias, and crazy rednecks I don’t want to be a cop making those checks. Again it would work in big cities (see Boston Marathon manhunt) but doubtful elsewhere (ruby ridge, Bundy ranch etc). You might call it crazy, but it’s the reality of that situation.

Where it would work, no one would cry about it. Where it wouldn’t work are places no one cares about. They don’t care about inner cities with all of the violent crime there already so I doubt they’ll care about checking people there for illness. And poor rural people were forgotten a long time ago.

Another way of looking at this: Why do others need more than $150 million-worth of your products per year?

I completely agree.

As a police officer I can tell you I wouldn’t be comfortable “checking” on people and their domestic proclivities. Seems a recipe for disaster.

I can’t really think of any billionaires that earned their money this way. Maybe they had a good idea that was worth a lot if properly supported, but most ultimately get their wealth by paying people less than they are worth and skimming profits from them. There isn’t anything wrong with that last principle (I don’t think my boss/owner is evil or anything), but in some cases it gets out of hand.

It is really hard for a single person business to earn a billion. Maybe someone like Warren Buffet would have made a billion without employees, but he is an investor, so it isn’t exactly earning the money (investing is inherently skimming profits off of others work).

Let’s say you’re Bill gates, the founder of Microsoft… Microsoft branded computers are a common item within workplaces, households etc

The person who founded Microsoft probably deserves a fair cut of the products his company sells. This is a very simplistic way of summing it up though. Generally one person gets all the credit, other people who may have been a big part of founding X business may receive little credit (think Mark Zuckerberg screwing over numerous coworkers, Bill finger never got ant recognition for helping create Batman etc… Until after he died)

I’m not going to argue against the fact that most billionaires (if not all) have probably screwed quite a few people over/engaged with some unscrupulous counterparts and/or made bribes… Whatever

I was merely giving two sides of the potential arguement. I’m all for taxing the (very) rich heavily whilst simultaneously lowering tax rates for the avg working man.

Heavily taxing the rich only encourages them to seek loopholes, off shore accounts and to engage in illicit activity. In my opinion it stifles innovation, as well. Nobody wants to be penalized for being successful. A flat tax makes more sense. Class envy is weak.
