Is the jist of it an argument for why spirituality is good in a time of trouble?

More along the lines of ā€œhard to feel sorry for people because the Bible said this was coming.ā€ Mix in a bunch of weird stuff about how if you ā€œbelieveā€ in people with white lab coats you’re going to be a slave. I skimmed it but I’ve heard that type of talk numerous times.

And of course the typical we deserve this type of treatment because we weren’t doing the work of God when he told us to be doing it.

God’s a terrorist yo. He told you to do shit and you didn’t do it so time to get tortured talk.

Yes.

If it weren’t for the plague, Christianity would have spread so quickly.

The numbers in the US are just starting to really pop and they are likely way low as we don’t have nearly the amount of testing going on as we could. I think New York added 5,000 in a day? Hard to keep up with really and stats are changing often.

I think it’s essentially undeniable at this point that we have to do everything possible for a while to limit the spread while hospitals work through all the shit they already have and what’s coming in the near future.

I mean we can talk a lot about how maybe we could have isolated the most vulnerable in a different manner or done other things that would have kept us from that but it’s all hypothetical. The reality of the situation is the US is starting to show signs that this may be a massive problem. Perhaps bigger than you guys and more difficult to contain due to our size and much larger numbers.

If so my hopes would be we don’t see the type of death rate due to things we have already learned about the virus or other factors. But the time for those different type of actions has passed. We didn’t do a whole lot in the US initially. Maybe if we had we would have different options right now but who knows and it’s moot. Only thing to do right now is do our best to limit the spread while hospitals do their thing. I don’t see anything else at least in the very short term here.

It would be great to see the summary table below broken down by age cohorts. Italy from a couple of days ago:

If hypertension and diabetes are independently correlated with negative outcomes regardless of the age cohort then the US is in big trouble.

Fuck that is depressing…

Lyme disease is also highly negatively correlated. FYI for any sufferers reading this, look after yourself.

Total mess in Australia.

Government has banned large gatherings, ā€œnon-essential servicesā€, limited numbers to funerals etc… while the kids still go to school, and shopping centres are allowed to stay open and operate as normal. People receiving welfare get extra payments, while the livelihood of hard working people running small business have been ruined overnight.

And then you have the dumb guacamole eating hipsters who crowded Bondi beach only 2 days ago as the country goes into lockdown. Hard to blame them when our own prime minister was bragging about attending a rugby game the night before the official lockdown started.

It’s a great PR move. Italy was already relatively friendly to Russia.

What are you talking about? Nobody gets sick in Russia. It’s just the gay people, and they banned them from talking about anything so nobody will be at risk . No need to test at all!

The point is not lost to other dictatorships - see below the triumphant arrival of Cuban doctors to Cremona.

China is also sending aid masks and doctors to various smaller countries, which is a bit rich considering they fucking started this shitshow.

It’s because of Frank Chamizo.

You’ve still been playing football.

No bro. Haven’t played for a few years. Long story. Had a disagreement with the club and decided to call it quits. I still occasionally take the ball tothe park and hit the ball against the wall.

Early US projections for unemployment are 30%.

That is unprecedented. None of us have ever seen anything like that

Edit: we could well and truly be in bandit country, chaps.

What do you mean? I’ve been 100% unemployed before.
