Coronavirus - What Happened?

I have heard they had a singular case of infection that was cured by lead.

Kim Jong Un has stated there are zero cases of Covid-19 in North Korea… As Kim Jong Un is someone well known for telling the truth and not being shrouded in secrecy I’m certainly inclined to believe him… Trump has openly congratulated North Korea for ā€œcontaining the virusā€. As of recent it has been noted a new hospital is being built within North Korea… Rather coincidental at this time for a country that has ā€œzero casesā€.

He will probably still state ā€œzero casesā€ right up until the entire country collapses (if this were to occur)

As to Donald Trump’s response…how is he not copping shit for this

Well there was a time it was much safer to drink whiskey than water, so I could see that. Not sure Cuomo is worried about people getting dysentery though.

When did that change? I always told people at work I was just being safe…

There was a report of someone yelling, ā€œit’s people!ā€

Victoria is locking down come two days from now. Our government is continually back-tracking on prior statements ā€œthere will be no lockdownsā€ā€¦ a few days later ā€œlockdownā€ā€¦ they kept reiterating we had too few cases to take action, but a pandemic needs to be stifled in it’s early stages, once community transmission occurs it’s VERY difficult to control the spread if a highly infectious illness.

I feel as if our federal government, our health ministers are incredibly out of touch… Scott Morrison certainly won’t be re-elected following how he blundered the response to the Bushfires, his response to this pandemic (late action) was awful…

We should’ve heeded the warning following what happened in Italy, Spain etc… we didn’t listen, fucking no one did… now it’s going to be VERY difficult to control the spread.

@samul is the entirety of Italy locked down or merely the provinces hit the hardest?

Check these quotes from government officials/health minister

"There have been very few cases of COVID-19 in children in Australia.

"Kids are not getting sick at the moment.

ā€œIn terms of school closures, that could be effective later in the epidemic. My own view is that is not necessary at the moment.ā€

Fucking clowns… Kids tend to be asymptomatic, our number of cases doubles every few days… NOW is the time to close down what is essentially a mass gathering of 500+ people every day. With a hypothesised base reproduction number around twice that of traditional influenza this is something that’ll spread from kid to kid (whilst the virus lies latent for a prolonged period of time) within rapid succession. Furthermore Australia is refusing to test civilians EVEN if they’re symptomatic unless they’ve been in contact with a known case, how are we to know whether kids are getting sick if they’re not getting tested?

The whole country

Actually I believe come Tuesday Australia is also loxking down… After the federal government dismissed the notion of a federal lockdown a few days ago…

Given im already under self isolation I’m not paying all that much attention to the media. It merely serves to make me even more anxious about this whole situation.

He may have had the right idea…if this were January.

I’d say we are still about 14 days away from the number of cases for essentially all the ā€œwe’re doing too much social distancingā€ talk to cease.

Imagine what our numbers would look like if we didn’t have limited testing.

If I would have send a text like this to my professor, he would probably get a broomstick and shove it up my ass. This man takes forever to make a point, ignores all evidence we have until now. No numbers, no data, just ā€œI think this is betterā€. I read something like Yale? I thought this was one of the competent institutions in your…puh how would your president describe it? Ah yeah, shithole country. Did he pay to be a part of it? Is he a friend of your president? Update on Germany: People are seemingly coming to their senses and stay the fuck away from other people. In some regions it is also enforced to stay home.

I was watching the news from Italy, an actual news show from Italy, and an Italian doctor was talking about the even stricter measures that were put in place to slow the spread. She said they are necessary in order to give the healthcare system time to prepare for the inevitable second wave. She made a point to emphasize that there will be a second wave. Meanwhile, you have people here talking about things we could do better to slow the spread and limit the economic impact but we would need to back in time to do them.

If we want to stick with war analogies it’s thinking a surgical strike on a compound will win the war without realizing that the enemy has already left the building and is now behind you.

It’s also in very state so it sounds more like we need carpet bombing.

I think by now there are a lot of people around the world who would not argue about carpet bombing the US but even I think that would be a bit harsh. Just a tiny tad too harsh. There is probably still a minority who speaks out against racism, wars for oil, bombing countries that did not even receive a declaration of war, letting people go bankrupt over medical bills, voting for a guy that is on tape talking about groping women etc. (I cut it here because this list could go on for days).

might they be at a lower level of spread because they are fairly hermetic? Also, if they have any sort of community orders, then they as a totalitarian society can be locked down much easier than a ā€˜free’ country.

I doubt people will want to want all 25 minutes. Start at 14:00. He makes a good point about which people panic and why.

A paper by Italian physicians:

-"We work at the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, a brand-new state-of-the-art facility
with 48 intensive-care beds. Despite being a relatively small city, this is the epicenter of the Italian epidemic, listing 4,305 cases at this moment — more than Milan or anywhere else in the country
(Figure 1). Lombardy is one of the richest and most densely populated regions in Europe and is now the most severely affected one. "

" The catastrophe unfolding in wealthy Lombardy could happen anywhere"
