Coronavirus - What Happened?

But based on the article it sounds like it’s for everyone under a yet to be determined income, regardless of whether they are still working or not. That is the questionable part.

Too bad it’s all sold out. I’m starting to wish they didn’t change the bills to plastic here.

Is this some kind of re-eating thing or what?

Hard to remember to fix the roof when you have so many houses.

Courage and kindness, my fellows. That’s all we need. We can face this world, come what may, if we have those two things.

Trying times may be ahead, but we can help our localities and friends. Nil desperandum.

The problem is that most people have neither, or in very limited amounts.

Alas, you may be right. But we weren’t all lifting weights just for chicks…I hope.

I’m busting tail trying to have both. I have a lot of hope since this is the first common enemy that human kind can band together and fight.

I think we can learn a lot from this as a world community. As long as we each do our part, and don’t let ourselves or friends succumb to selfish acts.

I’m still working. I don’t need that $1000 check rich uncle Donny wants to give me. I’m just trying the figure out the most helpful way to spend/give it. Any ideas? Trying to convince coworkers to do the same.

You don’t need to remind US of anything lol. It’s people with a lot of money and constituents…

Agreed on both counts, without question

I actually agree with you here. It remains to be seen if we can actually pull it together, but the lessons are there if we want to heed them.

Completely agree. I think you’re already seeing the world work together on solutions in an unprecedented way.

And I see a LOT of good even if it’s not reported. My Facebook for once isn’t just filled with stupid memes and bickering. It’s a lot of people with the means to help those who need it saying they are ready to help and already are.

I found two different women jobs this weekend that are going to allow them to work from home for the foreseeable future. Hope and kindness are out there we just can’t be blind to it’s existence simply because the “clicks” aren’t into sharing stories of triumph.

Any word on Boris’s choice to effectively try to drive herd immunity instead of suppression? His choices on policy look…um… interesting

Think you edited this in while I was replying. Call your local DCF office might be a start. We have no shortage of people who were in crisis before this happened.

I think most of the people in my company have said they are donating their money as well. Fortunately my office is able to work from home.

No specific word. Tbh, I think they’ve decided to opt for what everyone else is doing, just slower. I suspect the school and work orders are coming very soon.

Their early strategy was insane, tbh, but it looks like they’re listening to the evolving advice.

Hard to say, mate. I’ll keep you posted.

I think that’s really awesome guys!! I actually do need to work in person (in both my enterprises), so I know others will find it helpful. I know a lot of local places will be really hurting for rent, etc. Thinking mom and pop stores are going to really feel it :frowning:

That said, you could scarcely accuse the chancellor of squeamishness today. Humongous actions today, and they’ve basically retooled all available industry towards respirators.

We had 5000, and by government stats we’ll have 20000 before the month is out.

Definitely.

That’s what I was wondering…I could not believe what I was hearing esrlier. It’s the old “twiddle the fingers and do nothing til it’s too late, then listen to guidance”. Which, also, is insane.

To add, this isn’t just dedicated industry going into high activity, every industry that could be re-tooled has been put towards this manufacturing. I think even washing machine manufacturing has re-tooled to do so.

I think the problem was that they were listening to advice, but the wrong advice. Now they’ve woken up and are acting fast, I hope they’ve done so in time.

Oh yeah. Waitresses, paras, bus drivers, we could probably make an endless list of people who weren’t killing it already at an hourly wage who are going to be effected.

Considering my job is essentially just working with families in poverty now I’m always partial to finding those with little ones who are going to feel even more pain than normal.

The economy had a bunch of unfilled jobs so their are actually places that are hiring now, some with the ability to give people hours remotely or part time work until things get back to normal. Obviously this could change and has in many industries that require people to be together in big quantities.

Lobby to get the homeless some shelter. Is it better they are at least temporarily cared for? If they are in precarious circumstances are they more likely to be carriers? Maybe we should care anyway.
