I wouldn’t worry too much about what he says. The guy doesn’t speak the language well enough to understand that no one has equated anything with being black.
Highly infectious? 256 mil have been infected. The world population is 7.9 bil. There is 5 mil deaths. Majority of the deaths are people with more than 4 conditions. This pandemic is going on for more than 18 months now to almost 2 years. I had Covid for 1 day. Low temperature for 24 hours, no other symptoms and I was perfectly fine after that. Ran 4 km in 3 days after my temperature to move a little and I was perfectly fine.
If someone calls you a racist, call him a pedophile. Apparently Democrats support pedophiles and pedophilia.
I see you’re getting to know our wokest poster. You need to lower your expectations and cut him some slack. He usually debates by following the woke playbook, and there’s only one play in the book.
You are incorrect.
Likewise:
Everyone that is concerned about dying in a drunk-driving accident shouldn’t drive drunk - then they will be protected. Telling others that they can’t drive drunk so you can feel safe isn’t right. You can ask and make sound arguments to convince, but you cannot force.
Yes, it is considered highly infectious. This is a function of its R-naught.
Congratulations?
I think the polio vs covid comparison about vaccine acceptance is very flawed.
People saw the kids with polio among people they knew from their neighborhoods, their schools, their churches, their families and other close social connections. Boom. That’s all it takes for most parents. Toss on our only four-term president and leader of the free world’s victory over Nazi’s and Japanese Imperialists being in a wheel chair from the disease. High compliance follows quite naturally, especially considering the parents of the children getting polio at the time of the vaccine were just coming off one of history’s great moments of unity of purpose.
That’s a lot different from convincing parents of today to vaccinate their children.
An experimental vaccine with no long-term studies?
To mitigate a minor risk to the child?
For a disease nobody I know has even gone to the hospital for?
During a time of disunity with high levels of distrust in so many of our major institutions?
When that distrust cuts across all kinds of demographic and political lines for all kinds of reasons?
Apples and oranges.
I’m pro-vax, anti-mandate for this basic reason. We have to live with the people who don’t see things the same way we do, and trying to force some other outcome will make the entire situation worse for everyone.
Edit: Thank you for the compliment @punnyguy. I suppose we should give even more props to The Greatest Generation who won WWII and then started us on the path to eradicate Polio not long after they all started breeding like rabbits.
Excellent post.
add: context is so important; the big picture is so passe these days, every individual is so important and special
Its okay. Thats what the masks are for right? With the covid vax, boosters, double masks and 6 ft distance, you have combined all the power rangers and you have nothing to fear.
In the name of Fauci, Amen?
That isn’t equivalent at all. If you are vaxed and the vax is effective, you have nothing to fear from an unvaxxed person. A drunk driver can kill you whether you are driving drunk or not.
Much less likely to die in a drunk driving crash if you aren’t drunk driving, right.
Much less likely to get sick and/or die from COVID if you are vaccinated, right?
If a drunk driver hits my sober self and I’m fine but my car isn’t that’s a $10k cost to my insurance.
If an antivaxer coughs on me at the drugstore while I’m getting baby formula at 10pm and I get a breakthrough infection with fairly mild symptoms, and have to miss a week of work, my company loses about $10k of billable work.
If you want to convince people with that line of argument for the greater public health good, I’d suggest heading down to your nearby trailer parks and other low-income/high problem neighborhoods. Go door-to-door, ask about their personal medical status and then, if necessary, let them know why you think they’re wrong.
If you still can, please report back on how it all went.
Edit: That was a sarcastic suggestion, btw. Please do not do this sort of thing or vote for anyone who wants to see something like this done to any of our neighbors.
Tell that to the vaxxed individuals who die of non-covid causes because the ICU beds are filled with unvaccinated covid cases.
Can medical insurance companies mandate vaccination for coverage? I’d assume so? That’s a nuclear option and a whole can o worms.
Are they? All I can see in CDC web is rate of hospitalizations. They do not speak about rough numbers anymore. All I can see in major European countries statistics is that there are more vaccinated people with Covid. And countries with more than 2/3 vaccionation rate having higher numbers than the previous year. Some places like UK had twice higher numbers. That is obviously because vaccines work.
I ve talked to my doctor yesterday. Had some tests going on. He does not even recommend my 85 years old grandma to get vaxxed. According to his data the vaccines wont help prevent death even in eldery and high risk patients. And he is happy with the health of my grandmother. He is like she is more likely to fall and die than to die from Covid.
Please enlighten me where exactly did you read that the vaccine is “experimental” and what “long-term studies” according to you should have been carried out.
No you don’t.
With doctors like this it’s no wonder that Bulgaria has the second highest death rate and in the world, with 0,4% of the entire population dying from the virus already with no signs of abating.
1st main Point.
Yes I do. Germany COVID - Coronavirus Statistics - Worldometer
The cases are double. Vaccination rate in Germany is about 2/3. Dont tell me only the 1/3 of the population get Covid, the rest 2/3 do not. Simple mathematics show that if the cases were 2 times lower when there were no vaccines available, then vaccinated people are assumed to get covid especially if they are the majority.
We had the highest date rate prior to Covid as well. It is not a problem since Covid. It is our health system and a population with severe health issues. Covid is a very insignificant catalysator for the issue.
The results are misleading. It is from Jan to September when the vaccination process started and the vaccines provided some immunity. If you take September - November, I am sure results will be different.
Nope.
I know it’s not anecdotal data but it’s all I’ve got.
There is nothing on vaccinated vs unvaccinated. What are you trying to say?
Chronic respiratory disease (COPD, emphysema etc) is no joke.
Covid is more lethal than influenza for older folk… Magnitudes more lethal, and it’s more infectious. For those under the age of 35, it’s about as dangerous as the flu… Which is also super unpleasant to catch.
With vaccines the mortality rate associated with the flu (mostly old people, but entire spread) is around 0.1%. We keep making this flu comparision, but if we didn’t have the flu shot, the flu would cause a lot of problems. Look up how lethal the flu was when it first started affecting people, it killed 25-50 million people…
The flu isn’t something trivial. I caught the flu two years ago when I wasn’t vaccinated against it. I was so sick I couldn’t walk 100 metres without gasping for air, my resting heart rate was 130, I had a fever of gargantuan proportions and I was vomiting. It was borderline hospitalisation type sick… I’ve had serious gastro/food poisoning, the flu was worse for me. The only time I’ve ever been sicker was when I had viral meningitis… Though the mortality rate with viral meningitis is around 10%, it’s worse than covid + the flu combined…
Here’s the covid problem… Hospitals fill up with old people and elective procedures shut down, ICU’s fill up and emergency rooms shut down.
