When Ford ran for the Premiership of the Canadian Province of Ontario, he started the campaign literally with no platform. Really, a lot of the electorate wanted to get the Kathleen Wynne Liberals out of office. She was very progressive, but not always as pragmatic.
I find this move by Ford a good sign that reality is brewing in this government.

What is the point of the vaccine if you can still get COVID and transmit it? I have just read that it makes it less severe but, if that is the case should it not be up to the individual?
I absolutely think it is up to the individual. But I also think if you choose not to get it, you should give up your right to an ICU bed if catch Covid. No reason someone in a serious accident or with an unavoidable illness should not have a bed because you think itās some government conspiracy.
I just never looked into getting it because I am young and healthy but, work is now sending out emails saying it may be mandatory. If it is not preventing anything I see no reason for it.
Should people who get the flu but, no flu shot be denied beds if they develop something severe? What about overweight people, alcoholics, diabetics, etc? Seems like most beds are taken up by preventative problems.
According to ICU head nurse friend, the ones dying in her hospital are not vaccinated.

Sparkyo, sorry it took all day to post this. The greater Earth human population is quite large, and the number of virus units in any one infected person times the number of people infected is awesomely large.
Darwinian evolution happens in a noticeable time scale. Of all the virus units out there a tiny fraction are genetically defective. The vast majority of those are moot, they donāt cause the virus to do as the proper units do.
If even a tiny fraction of those defects can cause a virus to be more contagious, well they would succeed at getting around. It also could be that the new variant kills more people, or both.
With the first world hoarding a lot of the vaccines to themselves, and the Chinese Sinovac of less efficacy, there are a huge number of people world wide not protected. With this being true, newer variants come along that might defeat existing vaccines. This is the same with how the seasonal influenza vaccines are formulated each year based on what was going around in the other hemisphere.
Nota bene: Even if a vaccine isnāt a direct hit, it might still offer partial protection that lessens the severity of illness, and maybe the duration. This last point also works towards reducing transmissibility to others.

As an extra to this discussion, here we have a local police force up here in Canada actually causing a news story about whether their officers need a vaccine mandate.
If they canāt figure it out themselves, they shouldnāt be walking around with guns.

It ācouldā, āmayā, āmightā or if enough people get it we will build immunity. Can the vaccines not interfere with natural immunity development? Can they not drive the evolution of the virus?
People are unprotected world wide from many things. Children are dying from starvation and minor ailments like diarrhea I do not see the media uproar over that or the many other diseases and sickness plaguing the world.
If the government cared it would focus on the underlying conditions of its citizens. If people took a little more responsibility and did not eat like shit or refuse to exercise the chances of dying from Covid would be slim.
Even then if one chooses to get the vaccine it is their choice just as it is for someone to not get it. Why should a healthy person put something in their body with possible side effects and no long term studies because it may lessen the severity or chance of transmission?
