Coronavirus - What Happened?

This slippery slope ain’t got no brakes.

I keep telling people that the slippery slope is only a fallacy when making arguments using strict deductive logic. The slippery slope is fundamentally an inductive argument on unintended consequences, and most importantly a practical argument (see: warrant and the successful use of the slippery slope argument in legal decisions)

Since humans don’t use strict deduction in 99% of their reasoning it shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand.

Train’s got no brakes but it’s got gas on lock.

Hope the side effects are non-existent! Anecdotally according to people around me side effects mostly start 12 hours or more later.

I only plan to ‘feel a little out of it’ if wifey comes up with something I don’t want to do - like clean up the garage after my latest building project, so she can get her car back in there.

I speak mostly “tech” language for work nowadays. It sucks. I can’t pull stuff out of my ass on the fly.

My wife decided to get a post grad certification so she’s been attending classes every day. She was whining about me not helping out with vacuuming because apparently working for a living and attending classes to get something you’re never going to use because you’re bored is the same thing.

I did what any normal man would do.

I bought a robot vacuum.

She went NUTS lol. Fuckin NUTS. Women…

But then she saw the results and it’s better than what an average human can do so I’m off the hook. You can even also use your phone to control it like you’re playing with toy remote control cars. It’s awesome.

EDIT:

Xiaomi Roborock S6 Vmax. Not just the S6. That has less suction power and you probably don’t want that since I assume you guys living further away from the equator usually have large carpets.

Pretty cheap for a good one with a high tech algorithm(I actually checked with my tech guys) that’s more advanced than the high end brands. Retail price less shipping should be around 400+ USD if you buy it off aliexpress. Not sure how long it’ll last, though.

I think that’s plausible. I haven’t informed myself on this so I can’t really say, but that would be one major hypothesis. The other one would be that lasting immunity isn’t as good as previously hoped and internal data is suggesting that a 2nd booster/3rd shot would help

One of the many, many benefits to having a team of “tech guys” and/or “quants” on duty as your subordinates

The tech guys I use are independent contractors from Europe whom I also have a friendly relationship with because they’re nerds lol. I give them a new algorithm and they’ll go analyse it to death without any prompting. I wouldn’t be able to afford to employ them fulltime even if they were local. The tech guy under my employment isn’t near their level.

I’ve been thinking about the issue, and I’m wondering whether infusing a mask with the vaccine, so that it can be inhaled for hours along with one’s own breath, would be more effective than either on its own.

How about a cordless UVC mask? No need for a vaccine. Skin cancer is a myth since radiation has no detrimental effects on the body and ozone is probably good for you since there’s a bigass layer of it floating way up in the sky that protects us from the sun and we’ve collectively spent billions trying to protect it. I learned this from watching The Core. Oh, and the new Godzilla vs Kong movie confirmed the radiation part.

I see no reason not to push it.

In related news, car salesman says I will “likely” need the undercoating.

Car salesmen aren’t lifesaving superheroes. Your statement does not compute.

Here in the Canadian province of Ontario we have imposed upon us another 2 weeks of lockdown, on top of the 4 weeks we are so far sort of half way through. Now the police can actually drill us down as to why if we are walking down the street, or driving anywhere.

I myself made an appointment last week for my first injection for Thursday, but the sore throat type of thing I finished isolating for after last weekend is lingering and I cancelled it Tuesday morning. I hope the dose was used appropriately.

I also added an advertisement to supplement some others I posted for excess supplements I am trying to sell. I posted, ‘with vaccines you will soon be back in the gym’, or something that sounded like it. Now I wonder how long it will take before anyone decides to buy.

Well, my wife cancelled her vaccination appointment because it was the Moderna one and it supposedly has a high risk of blood clots and she has a problem with her blood pressure or something that causes her capillaries in her eyes to pop sometimes.

I can’t remember the actual medical term but it’s a systemic condition and has nothing to do with localized conditions like glaucoma and it’s a genetic one which has nothing to do with lifestyle or anything similar.

Guess she’ll have to wait for Pfizer one. I’m probably getting my shot next month.

I don’t think they’re really “new powers”, but rather, something covered in the constitution in times of emergency. Not really making a big deal out of it nor arguing semantics. Just stating this for the conspiracy theorists that may be around so they don’t go batshit.

P.S, that sucks. Hopefully all this shit will subside soon.

I am sorry to sound like this, but I am actually liking lockdown just fine. I have some lingering money from before I got laid off, and Employment Insurance/Canada Recovery Benefit is coming in steadily. Normally they might inquire as to job search efforts, so far they haven’t asked anything, except for the reporting questions online.

I half an hour ago finished exercising inside my apartment, I just promised the landlord I would reimburse damage to the drywall, my heavy bag is leaning into a corner and I pound on it.

I like listening to my local campus radio station as it has a very diverse broadcast week, and I spend a lot of time online.

It turns out that I found on youtube an ongoing live stream from all over the world for shuffle dancing:

they play electro dance music and have video snippets of people from all over the world shuffle dancing. It seems to require a high degree of nimbleness, so most of the participants are female. A lot of them are quite hot looking, so this puts me into a cloud 9 capability to not stare at the wall and get too bored.
