Coronavirus - What Happened?

What?

He never said love your neighbor or be fined or imprisoned. Christ didn’t force anyone to follow him. He just explained what the rewards would be for those who chose to follow him.

Absolutely.

Good thing that the entity doing the enforcing is separate from the Church. The state doesnt need to emulate or give two shits about WWJD.

Christians, on the otherhand…

Totally agree.

-There’s a list of States that ordinarily prohibit/penalize mask wearing, so have it out with them.

I didn’t want to comment because I don’t live in the US, but there’re Muslim countries around my region that arrested people for conducting prayer sessions in mosques while this was banned. That definitely wasn’t about Islam.

Good job Australia!

He also added ā€œas yourself,ā€ which pretty much turns the commandment into the Golden Rule. If I tried to force people to wear masks, I would expect them to ridicule me.

No, you would just go to Hell.

But if you are a Christian, you do follow Him. The point being, Christians should wear masks and since Republicans claim to be the party of God, they shouldn’t be anti-mask.

Funny how so many non Christians know what Christians should do or think.

Also how are Republicans anti mask? Aren’t they saying wear them if you’d like but don’t force others?

Well, they definitely grasp the most important thing: believing they are smarter than God.

Everything in the bible has been written and interpreted by men. You may argue that God indirectly wrote the bible through His chosen people, but it’s interpretation throughout history doesn’t have a very good track record.

FWIW I’m a Catholic.

EDIT:

This is just a discussion, btw. I’m not being confrontational.

Excellent point.

I wouldn’t.

I’m not sure what you mean, here.

Why?

What has the Church done over the last couple of centuries? Surely I don’t have to bring up all the terrible things that have happened. Christianity today isn’t the same as how it was practiced in the past.

Faith.

BTW, how did the Bible get into this?

You wrote:

How is it possible to talk about God without referring to the bible? How can one believe he’s smarter than God if he thinks the interpretation of the bible is flawed?

They don’t believe in God. It’s not hard to believe yourself smarter than something you don’t believe exists.

Or it could be a rejection of the logical inconsistencies in the bible, which was written by men. Rejection of God would be the result of this, not the cause.

Your argument would be valid if the person isn’t sufficiently educated about, or doesn’t know what’s in the bible.

They believe themselves smarter than the God of the Bible, regardless of whether He’s real or imagined.

What argument?

You could apply this logic to most modern day Christian denominations all the way up to the Vatican, then. Why is Christianity constantly evolving? Why are there so many conflicting denominations? Why isn’t the bible being followed to the letter if it’s supposed to represent the Word of God? Is every new generation of theologians smarter than God?

I’m sorry, I’ve realized that didn’t make sense so disregard that statement. I admit it wasn’t logical.

What I was trying to say was:

You wrote that non-Christians here who obviously have been educated in the religion think they’re smarter than God. If they think the words of the bible, which was written by men, don’t make sense, that doesn’t equate to them thinking they’re smarter than God.

How can you think you’re smarter than something that you reject the existence of based on words written by men?

And I’m assuming most of us have limited knowledge on most other religions. I know very little about Islam and I think Buddhism as a religion is rubbish even though I’m quite educated on the subject.

I don’t think I’m smarter than Allah even though I reject his existence because I have faith in my own religion despite my own problems with the bible. Same with Krishna and all.

I don’t think I’m smarter than Buddha and the myriad of gods in Buddhism although I think I’m smarter(as in not dumb enough to believe) the words that men who created this religion wrote.

Do you think you’re smarter than Allah?
