Coronavirus - What Happened?

Judeo-Christian values, Confucianism and global sharing of ideas can merge it all into one lol.

Great times we live in.

What a strange world we live in. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we could pull a ā€œBill and Tedā€ style stunt and pluck some historical figures out into today

And these values I’m espousing were derived from rebels against the Qing dynasty LONG before the CCP even existed, pretty much like Americans fought for independence. That’s why they overlap so much. People who had fought for REAL FREEDOM laid them down and now we’ve lost them.

We can; it’s called reading a book.

This is one of the absolute saddest aspects of history. Seeing the cycle happen. I feel a lot of the same way as I watch woke snowflakes try to tear down all the great things historical leaders have done because they lack the ability to understand more than 2 things at once. Like the Inquisition.

Actually, what you describe is one of the things I am most proud of in my Midwest upbringing. We have our share of nuts but man we have entire regions of people who think exactly the same way about the real fights taking place.

This is one of the areas I definitely agree completely and empathize with the frustrated posts of people like marine77, USMC, and idaho, even if I’m not as conservative in policy.

Possible. Unless we have to do it anyways by everyone being quarantined. The time to be aggressive was early and we didn’t do it. Since then we’ve just been trying to hang on and hope for the best. We’ve shit on listening to people who have warned us to take it seriously and think long term and not short term.

That ship has long past sailed. I don’t know what the answer is now. We’re probably pretty well fucked for a while. At least we will have a President who believes it’s important to listen to smart people and will try some things. We clearly can’t count on Americans to do things to help each other in regards to this even if they are incredibly easy.

Have you watched the movie Fury starring Brad Pitt? It resonated so much with Chinese people of my generation outside of China because the ending was everything we used to stand for.

After all the other tanks get destroyed, Brad Pitt decides he’s gonna take on an army alone with his tank. He tells his men to leave.

They could have done the smart thing and retreated. In the grand scheme of things, it wouldn’t have mattered now that we know the history of the war. But the fact is that they stayed. Not because of loyalty to the State nor blind adherence to orders.

Brad Pitt stayed because he knew that was it was his duty and if he ran and everyone else in a similar situation in other posts elsewhere did too, they would lose. So he stayed.

This made his men stay both out of respect for him and the sense of brotherhood amongst them.

Everyone knew they were going to die. They knew it was futile and wouldn’t affect the outcome of the war much. But a sense of duty, both to the country and to one another, prevented them from walking away.

This movie could have been remade in Chinese with the exact same storyline and dialogue and it would have worked the exact same way as a Chinese movie not made nor financed by the CCP.

I dont think we ever could have stiffled it. Doesn’t excuse dumbassery that continues up to today, ā€œWe didn’t realize having a block party with open chip bowls would spread this thing.ā€ But read the numbers in this article.

USA - 161,000 cases

Must be Trump supporters socializing in large groups without masks.

Don’t you have any quarantine protocols for people coming in? At least from high risk countries?

You mean in addition to locking children in cages after we separate families?

Hey now, they’re legal asylum seekers who just happened to have entered the country illegally. :joy:

Seriously, yeah. Like quarantine centers or at least mandatory home self-quarantine?

I dont recall ever hearing of any before this (or after) but l confess ignorance.

They have this now for travel between states, depending on the state. NY of course has a 14 day quarantine for pretty much every other state outside the tri-state area. Nevada is dependent on tourism (LV) so no restrictions at all.

If you fly, you have to fill out some form or something; I guess if you stay at a private residence, you can ignore quarantine if you choose. If you stay at a hotel, different story.

Car travel is pretty much non-enforceable I would guess.

But not from overseas? Do they at least take measures to enforce it? We’ve getting a massive influx of carriers from India.

I’m assuming overseas for sure if they’re placing restrictions on interstate travel.

No idea what the enforcement measures are. If staying at a hotel, monitoring would seem feasible. Staying at a private home? -not sure they can ā€œenforceā€.

(You have to fill out a form giving an address where you’ll be staying, for interstate air travel)

The government here gives out some kind of GPS device that links to a bracelet you must wear for 1-2 weeks here. Once you put it on, the only way you can remove it is by cutting it off, which is an offence, i.e. destruction of public property. It alerts them if you exceed a certain distance from the device, which is plugged into the center of your house. I think there’s an app that calibrates it according to the land size of your house. They come and collect it after the quarantine period. They test you in 5-8 days after arrival too. Don’t know if you guys will accept something like that.

…if Dems beat the odds and win both GA senate seats to control the senate, who knows? Otherwise, never imo.
