Coronavirus - What Happened?

Damn. As much time as you spend posting one and two line comments on here, I’d think you could use Google to fact-check.

OK, so he chose to go by a woman’s name. That makes him even less manly.

You would know.

You know many women named Randal or Rand? Ever hooked up with one? That thing you were rubbing wasn’t a clit.

This seems a tad premature.

Also, does this mean the navy ships that got hammered by it are going to be discharged?

I don’t know one personally, but I do know one: Rand Paul.

Do you know that from rubbing or being rubbed?

Not the ships, the seamen.

Noted.

I don’t want to know about Naval discharge…

No. His actions when he got tested. He was stupid, selfish, and an asshole. It’s even worse that he was that selfish around such a large amount of elderly people. Hard to hear Paul continue to talk about personal responsibility when he can’t walk the walk himself in the easiest way possible.

I disagree with her actions but also disagree with the punishment, as I’ve said before. Fortunately the AG told them to release her.

A few here. I think ActivitiesGuy is a better source for the statistics and reliability thereof, but I will give my take.

It’s hard to interpret these findings for a few reasons. First, we need to know whether the 1318 people were a random, representative sample of the population (or whether the sample was adjusted to correct for problems).

Second, we need to know what kind of test they used and the sensitivity and specificity of the test (false positive/negative rates). One of the things that got both of the previous high profile studies in the US in trouble was that they were drawing big conclusions from a data set that was close to what we would expect if the tests were all screwed…

For instance (and this is a gross simplification so nobody get upset) - you have a test that is 98% accurate for antibodies, and there are no false negatives. You test 3000 people, and 65 are positive (~2.2%). We can say the “real” positive number could be anywhere between 4 - 65 people. It’s not a stretch to consider maybe there were no true positives. Can you draw any conclusions from that data?

I would be VERY careful doing that. But also, that’s why people like ActivitiesGuy exist!

I strongly suspect we have some kind of short term immunity but as you note the tests are shite. Not to mention there are about 150 different antibody tests and most of them have zero reliability data. It’s the wild west. So as of now it is possible (although unlikely IMO) that immunity is very short lived.

They have (incidences in China) but we don’t know that it’s really an infection, very well might be the test itself.

Seasonality does not seem to but much of an inhibition to covid-19 right now. As it stands there is not a lot of good evidence that we can expect a seasonal wave due to weather. We may discover some in future, but one thing that bothers me and others is the fact that this thing is spreading so easily in the middle of warmer, sunnier weather.

I’m not sure I follow.

Correct. Libertarian.

You believe in utopia?

Do you?

I believe in the Road to utopia…

I believe we already discussed this once. Senator Paul when tested for Coronavirus instead of waiting for the results like a responsible human continued as normal ate lunch with his colleagues used the pool etc. you made a joke about who cared if those people died.

The person who put up 0 fuss when Trump claimed to have ‘absolute’ power is a libertarian. Pointed this out before, it’s still just as hilarious when you claim to be one.

I’m not a libertarian, so no.
