Coronavirus - What Happened?

Ahh I see. My apologies. I’m not the best at deciphering jokes through text. And yeah I try to just stay in a few forums only, but I figured this topic is affecting pretty much everyone, so I just threw my own viewpoint in. But I agree about the being close to correct thing, which is why I try to stay as neutral as possible. Considering there’s plenty of stuff I just don’t know and probably never will.

Indeed. But my job shut down things that would have us around crowds two weeks ago. I’m in a fairly rural area to an extent depending on how you define it. I’ve been working largely from home for two weeks now. My typical lifestyle doesn’t put more towards big crowds but my job does.

Either way I think my point was valid as to the reasons why people shouldn’t act as normal. Soon people won’t be able to act as normal even if they want to. Most already can’t. Luckily I have enough workout equipment at home to maintain at least though I will miss being in the gym should it shut down.

I can understand that, but I just don’t see it as necessary. Again, I’m not trying to take anything away from his accomplishments, but we’re all specialized in something concerning our career paths, as equal amounts of people are well versed in something else. I just don’t like when people feel the need to flex about it.

But again, I do understand what you’re explaining.

Coronavirus is God’s plan. Don’t blame his kid!

I’m not blaming his kid. I’m firmly in the camp that believes 6 or 7 breaded, fried cod filets on one regular sized bun -once a week for a couple of months per year–is not just good for your body, but also your soul. It’s really just coincidence that I had a massive heart attack after gorging on that stuff for years.

That’s why I’m astounded they’ve shut down. I think that there must be some crisis of faith of some sort if people aren’t willing to challenge a pandemic for a really big and usually pretty good fish sandwich.

@Aragorn please tell me this is the CCP fucking with us.

Arby’s fish sandwiches are pretty bitch’in. Those are the healthiest.

You mother…

No. Just no.

I love that China is blaming the U.S. military for causing the virus in Wuhan. It’s a little sad, a little funny. The bad part is that some semblance of people are going to believe it.
And now, the brilliance of these assholes in the pharmaceutical industries having entire classes of drugs made in China is coming to bite us in the ass.
China is threatening not to allow shipment of these drugs back to the U.S.
What to do?
Well, I would like to press charges and/ or lawsuits against these pharma companies for making idiotic supply chain decisions with no backup to a adversarial country who can cut the threads anytime they want.

As for China, I’d like to circle that little military base in the South China Sea with Trident subs like sharks. If they endanger our drugs, we endanger that military base.
What the Chinese did not take in to account when building that base is it’s perfectly suited to a nuclear attack. It’s all military and there is nothing else around it. I wouldn’t mind ending that base with a couple of D5’s.

If you accomplished one thing today, it was creating the stupidest post anyone will read today.

I mean in an ideal situation, like if you are still able to work (some people will have to) and you have a home gym. I train at home and where I work (cooking for a nursing home) will stay open, only problem is I can’t take many shifts because schools are closed for at least 3 weeks so I will have to stay home with my kids a lot. They have someone at the front door taking people’s temperature and screening for symptoms, I guess that’s the best you can do right now.

I suppose I’m lucky. But I can see this causing a huge financial crisis because people wont be able to pay their rent and mortgages, landlords are going to get screwed and some are paying mortgages themselves, and then banks will take a big hit and probably need a bailout. The virus itself is only part of the problem.

This is very bad news if true.

Too late.

Hannity’s brilliant journalism has already confirmed that it was the Deep State and the DEMS.

Where is that Pulitzer?

Can’t be serious with that one can he? I mean this makes the snipers sitting on top of the border wall shooting people who come close to it look extremely rational by comparison.

Ah ok misread you. We’re starting to see schools close down here with many having a stated goal date of opening back up April 1. Right now that seems like wishful thinking but who knows. Absolutely impossible to predict its uncharted territory.

And China didn’t blame the USA. It was a tweet from one Chinese official who is as much of an ass on Twitter as Trump. China also did not threaten to withhold medicine.

April first? That should tell us something.

Ok. It sounded like you were implying that this virus was different than many others in those ways, so I wanted to clarify. If you thought it was not picking I’m sorry. However, I think it’s a critical fact to take note of given the intense Hollywood-ization of virus mutations in movies (“Outbreak” among others) and the general lack of context in reporting these days.

Viruses mutate on a scale of days, not months. Many people who are infected with common viruses can be relied upon to have a mix of strains of virus genomic sequences. This doesn’t make them inherently more deadly though, since mutations often decrease virus effectiveness instead of increase it.

Exactly none. Great planning eh?

Welp, I damn well hope so! Malthus may be having his say soon… :joy:

I have no idea about the Global Times except that they’re Chinese. I believe they’re a tabloid but I’m not sure

I’m a big fan of The Global Times. They are, by FAR, my favorite Chinese state-run media outlet. Cynical capitalists might assume a heavy bias towards the Chinese Communist Party, but not me. The Global Times gives it to you straight.

It’s all good man. I do appreciate the apology though.

And I definitely get where you’re coming from with that. One of my close friends and I got into a really hot argument about this, because she has legit convinced herself that I’m some sort of “hazard” because I have asthma. I do understand respiratory issues make me susceptible to this thing, but my friend was about to go our states annual Rodeo where there’s thousands of people crowded amongst eachother, and didn’t think about how she’s much more liable to be exposed there, then just chilling around me.

But I do agree context is very important.

And since I’m not well versed on things like this, I do appreciate the extra info on the subject, as I think it’s important to know, and at least helps calm the general public to some degree.
