It would make sense if all European countries had it but these two didn’t. It doesn’t make sense but as I said being surprised about things like this wore off for me long ago. With none of Europe realizing this hell it could have been something he decided just before the speech. We’re talking about someone who lacks the ability to wait for information and weighs all options before speaking.
I have no doubts on this. And this is why I still can’t fathom how the consequences on the whole world are being so catastrophic for a virus that’s relatively harmless compared to many others
Dude, you’ve convinced us all that Trump is to blame, and that the TDS struggle is real.
Now go out into the wilds outside TNation and spread the gospel where it is needed.
…only 50/50 sarcastic.
I gave this some serious thought. My analogy would be if there was a (small) fire in a trash can in a theatre. Someone yells “Fire!”, people see smoke coming from the trash can, and the stampede to the exits (i.e. hospitals) result in a much worse outcome than justified.
I’m simplifying obviously, but.
Are you serious?!? That is inconceivable to me!
Absolutely hilarious after his public remarks
Here’s the major difference. It’s done by the ECB, and they refused a bailout to a Major Spanish bank recently.
This could get fucking ugly, man. Globally.
The logic is that the two island nations, who aren’t in the Schengen zone (the European free movement zone) are a different matter than those who are.
It may not be practically effective, but there is a definable reason to justify it.
Edit: that may be the logic, I don’t know.
Knowing the Italian justice system, that person might very well end up not serving time at all or just having to pay a fine… But yeah, the one I wrote above is the penalty for that crime here.
It makes sense; they speak American.
I didn’t blame Trump for the virus I said his decision was idiotic. Is that TDS? When is it appropriate to criticize his decisions? Or is it always TDS? Seems like a weird thing to point out when you have someone like Hannity who’s actually blaming whoever the deep state is.
10,000 estimated cases in the UK. Just like everywhere no idea for sure. We have other European countries that we can’t travel to with less. If the idea was to ban travel based on the number of cases exempting the UK makes no sense. I’m not picking on them by any means but if coming into contact with Corona is the reason for the travel ban then exempting them doesn’t make sense to me. I mean it’s not like these places are corona free.
I’m by no means opposed to the travel ban but if you’re going to do it do it fully.
T…D…S…!
I like H as a poster but fuck… The Trump hate is bordering on lunacy.
Would you suggest we don’t share our opinions on a major decision done by the US in regards to a Coronavirus thread? Seems to me that discussion around the decision makes more sense than saying “I’m sure tired of people criticizing the President.”
The vast majority of my posts in this thread haven’t been about the President but one criticism from me comes out and the “awe don’t be hard on the poor guy” brigade comes out.
Say what you have to say, end of story.
I’m not into browbeating people with verbal diarrhea to “convince them” that they’re wrong. Because the combination of reasonable objectivity plus the ability to admit being in the wrong are found in…unicorns?
If I’m in the wrong about my thoughts on the decision point them out. How can I admit I’m wrong on something you haven’t even talked about? Avoiding that discussion to make personal attacks because I criticized someone you like doesn’t do much for the thread. IMO of course.
I laid out my thinking for why I don’t think it makes sense to exempt those nations. We’re actually banning travel to places with less cases of Coronavirus than one we are allowing travel to. Trump made the right move in banning travel, but leaving those places out is the wrong move. I’m open to being pointed out why I’m wrong.
I’ve been listening to a few podcasts and reading up a few discussions on the subject, and from what they’ve been finding, (virologists/pathologists/etc.) has a lot to do concerning the Wet Market.
Essentially you’ve got tons of different species all crammed up together, under mostly sub-par food safety conditions, some alive, some sick, and some dead, coupled with millions of folks squeezed together and interacting in varying temperature ranges.
We saw pretty much the same thing happen with SARS, which was a virus jumping from civet cats to humans, causing an outbreak. The same thing is seeming to be happening again. Whatever this virus is, has the capacity to mutate and move from certain species to humans.
Having a little more than two week’s worth of food, if you can afford such an expense, is a good idea. If you catch it, and your symptoms are benign, ideally you’d self-quarantine for 14 days to get well, and for you to no longer be a carrier. Then you can return to being among people again. Having more than two weeks is just in-case people have panic-shopped a lot around the time your own quarantine has ended.
Obviously, a bunch of meat and rice is good. I’m going to float some other ideas for the benefit of the thread,
- Frozen everything (avocado, berries, vegetable-mix, …)
- Cottage Cheese (can be frozen)
- Eggs (can be frozen)
- Fish/Meat, have some in the fridge, freeze some (if you have a freezer), canned stuff too.
- Rice/pasta/dried beans/…
- Nut butters and nuts
And things to snack on. Pickles, for instance. Popcorn kernels.
Starting a sourdough perhaps.
Is it like how the aids virus is cured by large amounts of liquified cash?
