Great lift though!

Finally seems like people came to their senses in this thread. It can be a serious thing passing out…I think it is also more common on the deads…I think for sure I’ve done cleans only a few times…but the one time I did them I definately got a little too lightheaded and had to gather myself.
Have you passed out since that vid PMPM? I remember seeing it a long time ago
No, I actually didn’t pass out on that vid - it was just a loss of balance. I’m clumsy, not hard core.
I certainly see spots and get light headed, and I’ve had to lie down, but I’ve never passed out.
For Ike:
wow, you’re hot. Was that sumo a lift? It looked like your stance was as wide as the plates.

Not singles, but I’ve had to terminate squat sets because I thought I was going to: “Gee, I can’t really feel my head anymore except for a slight tingle, time to rack the bar.”
The video is kinda funny*, but I don’t think he was really doing anything wrong; it happens. He’s working hard.
*Assuming he wasn’t really injured.

You’re awesome for posting that. I once lost my balance FORWARDS when squatting … that was scary! If it wasn’t for the safety bars …

Once, on a 40lbs pr, 2 days after my 18th birthday. First time i ever bled from the nose too. Just got it back in the rack and next thing i remember, i was seated against the wall a few feet away from the rack, and my training partner was calling our s&c coach over to get me checked out. it was pretty damn sweet :P.
I’ve never passed out but I almost sharted doing rack pulls last week. Shut down the set…I’m not that hardcore.
I think you should take a picture of your face(if you haven’t already) and pst it. Also congrats on being famous.
I’ve almost had what happened to pushmepullme happen to me I’m sure a few of you have to. Kind of a scary feeling and a rush at the same time.
ps. fainter we’re not making fun of you, we’re embracing your hard work.
PMPM…you kiss your mom with that potty mouth lol. I heard ya say fuck, and the flying glasses was a nice touch too.

I’ve never passed out but I know I’ve been lightheaded before doing heavy sets of 405 on the squat.
x2. What I also find funny is most of the people commenting on his form or his numbers are either in the same boat or close to it.
I’ve skimmed through half of the posters who were negative and none have videos of their lifts. STFU until you produce something

Haha, thanks. My stance is very very wide when equipped, a few inches narrower when raw. I always pull sumo (a/k/a “cheater”) in competition.

Yeah, I hit my head on the bench behind me…normally I would never, EVER cuss. Ha. Cough.

YouTube commenters are 99.9% worthless. I have people tell me things like I’m overtrained in the chest and I’m going to break my back when I post videos of a shirted, arched bench press.

I agree on the Youtubers, I’m going to take it one step further and say most of the people on this site (Obviously not you or anyone that trains more than they talk).
I saw the deadlift 315 lift/fall, it look great up until the fall and even then you seemed to handle it well.
Wtf does overtrained chest mean anyway?

Well, ya know how a bench shirt pulls your arms forward when you’re relaxed and you look like you’ve got really tight pecs and a caved in chest? Apparently that is what overtrained in the chest means…
But, enough about my training exploits! Anyone else have any good training/fail videos? I know UpChucker has a video of him breaking his leg wrestling, but I don’t know if I would want to embed that…the sound is AWFUL.
It could have been a lot worse. Coulda missed the attempt, then face planted.
Throw ups
Here is Strongman Hugo Girad passing out at the very end with a 400lb stone
I guess Hugo is a noob too, needs to learn to breathe and do proper form
i think there is a bit of a difference between hugo passing out and passing out after deadlifting one rep at 329. ike IS a noob, he said he had been lifting for a month.
for 1 month of progress, that is a solid attempt.
i dont yell when i PR, but i also am not trying to bring attention to myself.

Would a video of Kevin Knee passing out on Deadlifting against Mariuz be a better choice for you then
Other than the obvious differences in weight, how? That is a 1rm max for ike and that is a max for Hugo? You would figure though experience Hugo wouldn’t of done this. He got ahead of himself and it happened. People busting on that guy in the video are only doing it because it was 329. If that was a 600-700lb deadlift no one would of said shit about him being a dumbass.
So because he was excited, a noob and it was 329, it’s ok to bust on him for yelling then passing out?
If you answer yes, STFU and get out or post a video for us. Everyone starts somewhere, get the fuck over yourself
Oh, since you don’t do it… shit it must be stupid then.

Hahaha, I can hardly read youtube comments without getting pissed. So many people critizising guys and gals whom they’d be better served begging for advice, irks me to no end. ![]()

I agree the lift and lifter should not be ridiculed in this situation. It just sucks that he crashed into the rack for all parties involved.
As a note, I’ve gotten light headed from heavy deadlifts and the closest I’ve ever came to passing out is doing snatches where I will occasionally have to take a knee after heavy attempts.
I’ve gotten lightheaded from squatting, but it is never like I am going to pass out, its only an exertional thing.
There is also a video of a bigger powerlifter passing out after missing a heavy deadlift.
So, I’ve noticed that pulls, deadlifts, cleans, and snatches, have a bigger potential for this sort of thing.
Does anybody know why this is? I’m thinking it is positional, i.e. the bent over position of as opposed to the somewhat more upright squatting posture.
Has anybody ever passed out from heavy squat singles?
I didn’t pass out but, I sort of got a feeling of vertigo. I started trying to walk and knew it wasn’t gonna go good so I hugged the squat rack till it passed. In my case I think it had more to do with blood pressure then anything. Some times when i go heavy I feel like maybe I am trying to suck in to much air and that makes me sorta dizzy.
most likely due to that fact that your are positioning yourself with your head in a lower position then attempting to quickly rise, its like getting out of a seat after sitting for a while to fast, you get light headed and shit

Stitches came out on Thursday without a hitch. My back is a little tight, but nothing the Chiropracter couldn’t handle. I’m going to go in Monday before I lift next, just to be 100% sure I’m in ship-shape to continue with heavy weights. I did some heavy partial squatting 2 days after this and it probably put more pressure on my back than the deadlifting, so that could be it too. I know I’m not familiar enough with my body to judge between deep muscle soreness, sore joints, or something minor in need of repair, so I’m getting checked out by my doctor and chiro before I do anything over 330 again.
As far as my face goes the scar won’t grow hair and it borders between my chin and under my face, so it could be visible if I let a beard grow back. The bone must have gotten chipped, because bone has been growing in that spot and my jawbone is now thicker on that side. It’s not noticeable except to me and it might not be permanent.
P.S.
Dinosaur Training is awesome. I’m sure there are some Brooks Kubik fans on this board, but I just have to echo how inspirational his books have been in starting my training. I’m not going to be reckless and dangerous, but I know going hard and heavy will make me stronger.
Glad your taking care of yourself!
I’ve done far worse damage doing stupid things, not well, exemplary things…
Hope healing is complete, and your SO likes the scar…
