I heard the calves, abs, and forearms muscles repair faster so you can train them daily. I did a bit of research and I've seen mixed views on this matter. I thought this would be a great place to ask since everyone trains their muscles here.
What do you guys think? Does it help to work these muscles everyday?
What would you recommend and why?
Side note: My goal is to build a lot of mass. Just in case someone says “Well, it depends on your goals”.
Do your main workout 3-5times a week. Train all your smaller body parts separately, as in either after you workout or at other times of the day. I have seen first hand in quite a few people that training your smaller, lagging body parts often, with adequate rest and food will give you good results (High frequency rocks).
Your Forearm Muscles aren’t postural muscles. They need quite a bit of rest. Train them no more than every 3 days I say.
Abs, Calves, Spinal Erectors, and Traps are postural muscles that grow well with High Reps (At Least 15).
Sure, Abs get strong from Low Rep Squats, Traps Get strong from Low Rep Olympic Lifts, and Spinal Erectors grow well from Low Rep Deadlifts but with these muscles, using a wide variety of reps is important.
Why Train Calves High Volume?
Because Every Step you take is a bodyweight calf raise. You’ll need a lot of reps and heavy weight and sets in order to make them grow.
Why Train Spinal Erectors with High Reps?
Loui Simmons pointed this out. Have you ever torn a Pec? If you do, you bruise up quite a bit. Ever torn your low back? There’s no noticeable bruising because there’s not a lot of blood flow back there. In order to get blood flow and nutrients back into those muscles you need high reps.
Why Train Traps with a variety of rep ranges? Because Jim Wendler says so. He is THE authority on Trap growth.
Why Train Abs with High Reps?
Because if only do 6 Hanging Leg Raises, then you’re a major pussy. Like Calves, they’ve also adapted to high volume and need to be shocked into growth accordingly.
