hey. I overeacted because after my posts i was receiving criticism because of something i said about shakes. I wouldn’t have acted this way if they had criticised my looks. I just got pissed off. Wouldnt you? imagine you post asking for something and then you get fried by loads of people because of something insignificant you said. I merely stated that protein shakes never worked for me and that i didn’t like the results i gained from it.

It’s not as if i said that protein shakes are for pussies, that deadlifts and squats are totally useless or that bin laden is amazing.

Are u joking? I guarantee that guy lifts way more than u and could prolly kick ur ass. Furthermore one does not need to be more “jacked” than another to criticize them. You asked for criticism and not just from ppl who are more in shape than you. Movie critics often time dont make movies and food critics aren’t necessarily master chefs.

Anyway all being annoyed with ur douchiness aside i will give u constructive criticism

For two years on off followed by 6 months seriously i do not find ur physique to be very impressive. So i think u must be doing something sub-optimally.

Ur arms are disproportionate to the rest of ur physique. They are good but prolly ur only strong point besides ur back width. Ur pecs look like they need work and from the lack of leg shots im assuming they are also pretty bad. Furthermore u have no spinal erectors. These two facts paired together make u think that u dont squat.

Also from the looks of ur back im going to guess u dont DL either. Start doing both immediately, they are some of the most productive lifts u can do. Furthermore i dont know what army training is like but perhaps some olympic lifts to build ur explosive strength would have some good carryover (clean, snatch). BUt seriously start doing something for ur lower back and legs.

That core stability is crucial in any sort of athletic endeavor. I can’t really judge how developed ur abs are because u have fat covering ur stomach. But definitely be doing some ab training throughout the week. Ive fiddled with all different kinds of training frequencies and one of my favorites went something like this
Monday ab exercise A 4 sets
Tuesday ab exercise B 4 sets
Thursday ab exercise C 4 sets
Friday ab exercise D 4 sets

Also u say u like push-ups pull-ups, dips etc… Try a variety of them. variety is going to help more than anything, rather than just doing the same 2-3 variations. Try one=armed, clap, fist, dumbbells, bands, chains , medicine balls push-ups etc… etc… check out this link for some cool ideas and demos
http://www.T-Nation.com/readArticle.do?id=1426252

Same goes for pull-ups… .check out this link
http://www.T-Nation.com/readArticle.do?id=459572

I think pullups and pushups are big in army training stuff.

Anyway i think u should also look into just doing a pre-fab routine by one of the authors on here rather than make your own, or check out CT’s two part article on how to design a routine

wow the pullup article was awesome. i can’t believe that russian lady did 60 chin ups and stopped because she was getting bored. I wouldn’t want to get in a fight with her.

So in the article he says that chin ups are THE mass upper body builder exercise. that’s really motivating. I’m going to concentrate solely on them until my test which is in three days. I have always loved the pushups morebecause they can be done anywhere, but it seems like the chin ups are far more effective.

I want to thank you for the advice and links to the article. I see that posting wasn’t a waste of time after all and all the pointless arguments were worth it. Take care

I need to shut my mouth?

well that’s what i hear a few times on the doors and it’s nearly always boys like you,who have drunk too much and have to prove themselves to the lads.

With your attitude you will go far in the army …approx the careers office and then on week of basic ,then youw ill change your mind and go back to playing your xbox and reading Nuts magazine in your dirty sweaty 3 days old underpants.

Never threaten someone here on the net,u never know who will notice you around town.

So i don’t lift?? Personally i couldn’t care less whether you think i do or not, as your views are worthless as is your knowledge, move on little boy.

you know nothing about me. Is that a threat? I do hope we meet then. I am part of the response unit at the twickenam rugby stadium so i know all about ,mouthy drunk little shits.

1)you had a go at me because of my views
2)you joined in to all the negative things everyone was saying
3)you are obviously full of shit if you think im a typical ENGLISH lad who drinks, plays video games and reads nuts. I don’t even go to the pubs as i despise that english lifestyle. I do play the x box though and i’m proud of it.

Perhaps i over reacted but i don’t appreciate people criticising me for stupid reasons. I don’t care if people say i have a flabby belly, or disproportionate arms because thats constructive criticism to me, but why the fuck would you criticise me for not liking protein shakes??

I posted on here asking for feedback, advice and even a rating even a shit one. I didn’t post to be fried because i haven’t been happy with the results i gained from taking shakes.
I knew you would answer back …that’s what boys like you do best, from behind your secret life on the PC,even my woman can’t beleive youa re for real,we had a great time laughing about you.

Twickenham response team? how naive can you be as to tell others on the net how they can contact you, although i doubt you are in sucha thing as i have never met such a dreamer in my life,do u know of Walter Mitty???

IN your other profile ,u asked what to say to girls to chat them up at clubs,so how come you suddenly don’t even go to pubs??
is it because you are scared guys will pick a fight with you in your string vest??

Keep playing counterstrike on your xbox.

First of all, you guys need to cool down. Seriously.
Without taking sides, britishmuscle, it looks to me like MuscleBear got you going.
Chillax.

The whole shit hit the fan just because MuscleBear outed his views on protein shakes. You might want to criticize his attitude, but not his person.

Having said that, my personal opinion is that protein shakes can do the trick, especially after you’ve build up a sound nutritional base.
Me, I’ve been consistently lifting weights for about seven years and just started to take protein shakes on a regular basis for a year, now. I’ve come pretty far without protein shakes, my best form being 90kg at 170cm and approximately 15% bf (not geared, either).
The only reason I incorporated protein shakes to my diet were digestive problems I had with my ordinary protein sources (curd cheese, cottage cheese; chicken and tuna are still fine).

Since then I’ve discovered (lo and behold!) that protein shakes can not only be a tasty treat, but constitute the most convenient (read: fastest and tastiest) way to up or maintain your protein intake.
Especially when dieting down, they satisfy my sweet tooth.

you are making me laugh. your comebacks are totally pathetic and your pictures are ridiculous. I was actually trying to apologise and explain my point, but you are obviously as brainless as you are insignificant. doorman my ass.

Or back hair strategically shaved in the form of an eagle or even a sweet puma.<<

Oh man that was the funniest thing ever.

Back to the subject- protein powder? completely unnecessary- you can easily get all the protein you need from food. People seem to forget that these are SUPPLEMENTS, meaning they are to be used in addition to your diet…assuming you need any addition. These are not to be the staple of the diet. Some people try to live on shakes and bars.

So, I’m definitely going to side with sweet puma on this one. Shakes have their place, sure- for convenience. Some of us dont have all that time to eat constantly, so the meal replacements or protein shakes come in handy.

Honestly, though, it’s easy enough to get your 200+ grams a day…just eat a lb of 97% lean red meat/day, a half gallon of 1%+ milk, and assorted whatever throughout the day: thats around 115gr prot. for the 16oz, 64gr for the milk, and 20+ for assorted without any need for supplements.

telling you to shut your mouth made it personal? you made it personal by calling me ignorant etc after my first posts.

I found it very hard to believe that you work on the doors. A door supervisor is in the people management business. His job is to diffuse dangerous/ violent situations using communication. He needs to be positive etc… A door supervisor uses reasonable force only as a last resort.

I told you to shut up after you insulted my intelligence and joined in to all the negative things said about me and now you are all over the place. You threatened to find me and beat me up, you insulted me, you went through my posts to find something to attack me with and you even put me in your private life by showing my pics and posts to your girlfriend/wife. You obviously have major issues. If you are a door supervisor, i doubt you do your job efficiently and you should have your SIA licence taken away.

Do you insult and beat up men and women that tell you to shut up?

i’m going to stop replying to posts on this now and will probably delete my account on here. I will search for a forum that doesn’t contain psychos who attack someone for their views.

I haven’t been in a gym for a year. All my workouts are done with the meagre weights i have or my own bodyweight. My mother has moved elsewhere with her boyfriend and i have been supporting me and my little sister. My dad has just recently resurfaced in our lives and now i am free to do my own thing.

I will be going to the gym while in the army and i have already planned a programme. I will be benching, squatting and deadlifting( even though i need to find the proper way to do it). I fancy getting into powerlifting.

So no, my pushups and chins are not weighted. I also decided to spend money on food rather than protein as i cannot buy the proper brand. That’s why i wasn’t satisfied with the ones i were using. £10 protein powder is rubbish.

I do know that protein is effective, as i have friends who are athletes and use them. However the ones i was using were rubbish because they are cheap. I hope that will put some light on everything.

voila

I couldn’t read the small print on your drawing. Could you caption that?

I think there are some good protein powders out there that aren’t too expensive. I use optimum nutrition gold standard myself. $45 for 77 servings.

There’s a link if you decide to go that route. Your mileage may vary.

Don’t sweat it MuscleBear…look at the retards who flame me- it’s like a hobby. Do I care? No. I tell people realistic things like genetics and evolution so as to make them see the truth as opposed to listening to freaks who believe whatever so-and-so who goes by initials and regurgitate it as if it’s their own conclusions. Kool aid drinkers who say men are made of clay and dinosaur fossils are tricks of the devil…know what I mean? Nevermind them.

im also intersted in seeing the captions… did u draw those?

also can u post the exact routine u r planning on doing… id be interested to see it

That’s exactly what I thought.

Why not try the Metabolic Drive or Metabolic Drive Complete advertised here on T-Nation. It IS one of the top 10 supplements used by people here. ON’s gold standard seems decent as well. Remember to down some whey protein (1 scoop) first thing as soon as you wake up.

Eat 6-8 meals a day and some grow/cottage cheese and fish oil before you fall asleep. Try to get 1g - 1.2g protein per lb bodyweight daily, and take some chocolate milk with a scoop of whey immediately post WO. you should see a difference just with this.

And the 2 hours post WO are ideal for tucking in the calories (with adequate protein of course) with feeding every hour or so. Try adding weight to the pushups-dips-pullups to stay in the 6-8 rep range. Do back squats/front squats etc and not just bodyweight/hindus. 6 months of eating liek this and mkaing modifications to your routine, post your pics again.

And if I were you, I;d suck it up and stop replying. YOu DON’t want to end up another XCelticX, trust me. There is too much info here on these forums to get a bad rep to redeem yourself over some stray comments.

YOu are flabby around the midsection but who cares, you have been eating hard sicne you were weaponxxx. Progress is there, but will be much better once you increase the protein content in your diet. Drink chocolate milk post WO (get at least 40gm of protein immediately) if you still want to avoid whey. Cottage cheese, salmon, eggs, beef jerky, fruit, vegetables are what you need to be eating from.

thanks. i have been thinking of trying a good brand of protein supplement ass perhaps the ones i took were shit. which one should i take? which one do you use?
