Constructive Criticism Wanted

I say more power to you for not using protein powder. Years of literature and real world example really shouldn’t be taken into account when you decide to start lifting. By using protein supplements a few bad things could happen:

 1. You could possibly grow out of control until you are freakishly large simply by accident. Many people don’t realize how careful they should be once they decide to start using protein. To anyone reading I recommend that if you absolutely must use protein you get yourself to a doctor and let them clear you first. You can never be too careful.

 2. Using protein is a slippery slope towards using other supplements like creatine which have actually killed people before, not to mention the damage it can have on your teeth.

 3. You might reach your goals too fast. Many people will tell you that the journey is the most important part. By not using protein you can extend the journey indefinitely. Destination be damned!

In conclusion: Don’t listen to these punk telling you that you’re wrong. You know what you’re doing and these people just don’t understand. They rely on science and experience, but you have your opinion and we all know that that is more reliable.

Good luck to you my friend. May the wind always be at your back and the sun on your face.
thanks

Oh man, give the guy a break. He posts on here not to get absorbed in a meaningless debate over protein shakes, but to get some meaningful feedback. If he doesnt want to take a goddam shake then who the fuck cares?? Besides a cluster fuck of shake nazis.

To the OP, what are your goals? Are you training for size, for athletics etc? Always start with goals. If you dont have a goal then no one can help you, and you become fodder for internet shake piranha.
thanks:)i’m training mostly for rugby and the army. I am going to the army selection centre for the test on wednesday. So my goals were and still are to get muscular, with a good level of endurance.

I want to thank all those who gave me positive criticism and didn’t bitch at me for my anti protein shake views. It shows that there are real men on here still, who don’t bitch about silly stuff.

you make me laugh mate. You need to shut your mouth. You are criticising me when you don’t even look like you lift. I looked at your pics and they made me shit myself laughing

it’s my opinion and i have the right to believe in it. It’s not like i said that you guys are idiots for using it and that it doesn;t work at all. I just told you that i don;t like using it and why. If you make a big deal out of it, then you guys have problems. I can say what the hell i want to say. It’s not even the point of this post anyway

Its you that is getting all worked up about nothing.

U said you dont believe in and know about protein supps/facts ,then maybe this is not the sport for you.

If you can’t take criticism then get outta here.
Do you take supplements? well if you are, i can tell by your pictures, that they are working very well.

silence can sometimes be the most elequent reply. Dont fuel the fire bro.

Let’s see if I’ve got this right…You chose to post photos shirtless under the title “Constructive Criticism Wanted”, then overreact to comments in said public forum. Thicken your skin, friend, as similar behavior will not go down well when that first Drill Sergeant gets in your face when you go Army…

You look like an even gayer version of the already very gay david blaine, maybe you should try street magic.

o, I almost forgot to be constructive. Try not to look so gay.

All I can say is that the internet sure brings out the heros dont it?

To the OP, cant offer much, as I train for different reasons. Over here I saw a book based on the workouts of the US Navy SEALS. Maybe that might be appropriate, if you can find it over there. But at this point I would say you already have size, as in youre not skinny, and have some muscle.

If you have interest in weight training, I would say focus on basic compound lifts - squats, presses, rows, deadlifts. Eat smart - search for the various articles here on nutrition ie check out Berardi. You need the appropriate calories. Good luck.

Are u joking? I guarantee that guy lifts way more than u and could prolly kick ur ass. Furthermore one does not need to be more “jacked” than another to criticize them. You asked for criticism and not just from ppl who are more in shape than you. Movie critics often time dont make movies and food critics aren’t necessarily master chefs.

Anyway all being annoyed with ur douchiness aside i will give u constructive criticism

For two years on off followed by 6 months seriously i do not find ur physique to be very impressive. So i think u must be doing something sub-optimally.

Ur arms are disproportionate to the rest of ur physique. They are good but prolly ur only strong point besides ur back width. Ur pecs look like they need work and from the lack of leg shots im assuming they are also pretty bad. Furthermore u have no spinal erectors. These two facts paired together make u think that u dont squat.

Also from the looks of ur back im going to guess u dont DL either. Start doing both immediately, they are some of the most productive lifts u can do. Furthermore i dont know what army training is like but perhaps some olympic lifts to build ur explosive strength would have some good carryover (clean, snatch). BUt seriously start doing something for ur lower back and legs.

That core stability is crucial in any sort of athletic endeavor. I can’t really judge how developed ur abs are because u have fat covering ur stomach. But definitely be doing some ab training throughout the week. Ive fiddled with all different kinds of training frequencies and one of my favorites went something like this
Monday ab exercise A 4 sets
Tuesday ab exercise B 4 sets
Thursday ab exercise C 4 sets
Friday ab exercise D 4 sets

Also u say u like push-ups pull-ups, dips etc… Try a variety of them. variety is going to help more than anything, rather than just doing the same 2-3 variations. Try one=armed, clap, fist, dumbbells, bands, chains , medicine balls push-ups etc… etc… check out this link for some cool ideas and demos

Same goes for pull-ups… .check out this link

I think pullups and pushups are big in army training stuff.

Anyway i think u should also look into just doing a pre-fab routine by one of the authors on here rather than make your own, or check out CT’s two part article on how to design a routine

Or back hair strategically shaved in the form of an eagle or even a sweet puma. Nothing gets pussy like a tribal tattoo made of armhair. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.

You should challenge him to a break dance fight, or a walk-off. That’d show em!

I need to shut my mouth?

well that’s what i hear a few times on the doors and it’s nearly always boys like you,who have drunk too much and have to prove themselves to the lads.

With your attitude you will go far in the army …approx the careers office and then on week of basic ,then youw ill change your mind and go back to playing your xbox and reading Nuts magazine in your dirty sweaty 3 days old underpants.

Never threaten someone here on the net,u never know who will notice you around town.

So i don’t lift?? Personally i couldn’t care less whether you think i do or not, as your views are worthless as is your knowledge, move on little boy.

Nice hourglass shape. Just kidding
YOu are flabby around the midsection but who cares, you have been eating hard sicne you were weaponxxx. Progress is there, but will be much better once you increase the protein content in your diet. Drink chocolate milk post WO (get at least 40gm of protein immediately) if you still want to avoid whey. Cottage cheese, salmon, eggs, beef jerky, fruit, vegetables are what you need to be eating from.

you would fail the army height/weight test, hands down. are you planning on going guard/reserve/or active?

you know nothing about me. Is that a threat? I do hope we meet then. I am part of the response unit at the twickenam rugby stadium so i know all about ,mouthy drunk little shits.

1)you had a go at me because of my views
2)you joined in to all the negative things everyone was saying
3)you are obviously full of shit if you think im a typical ENGLISH lad who drinks, plays video games and reads nuts. I don’t even go to the pubs as i despise that english lifestyle. I do play the x box though and i’m proud of it.

Perhaps i over reacted but i don’t appreciate people criticising me for stupid reasons. I don’t care if people say i have a flabby belly, or disproportionate arms because thats constructive criticism to me, but why the fuck would you criticise me for not liking protein shakes??

I posted on here asking for feedback, advice and even a rating even a shit one. I didn’t post to be fried because i haven’t been happy with the results i gained from taking shakes.
