i actually LEARNED a bit from watching that.

That speaks volumes about your training knowledge…

The only thing I learned from that video is the approximate weight of a sewer grate. Oh, wait, he wasn’t even sure of how much it weighed because he was so bad-ass that he didn’t even care.

Right…

Its obvious that he was ACTING bad ass. But thats what made the video funny. Hes a geek of a chap, But a built geek at that. i Bet if he rid himself of his gut and went on a cutting diet while maintaining his size, people would be asking for advice instead of hurling abuse.

If a man can build himself up lifting odd objects then i think his methods should be looked into.
thats all im sprayin, people here should be more open minded to the fact that just because hes a fat cunt doesnt mean he doesn’t have considerable muscle mass/strength.

In my opinion, if you know how to get big, regardless of where you do it or how you do it, you deserve a bit more respect than what this guy is gettin.
What did you learn?

He cleaned and pressed a sewer grate. If that is all you have go for it but a barbell is probably better as you can add weight.

He has some size to him but he would look better and probably feel better and healthier if he lost his beer belly.

Did he do this his whole life or did he train with weights first?

Just looks like gimmick marketing to me.

alright?

I’m not sure where you’re seeing the impressive physique that you keep claiming this guy has.

Yup, he’s fat. Yeah, it looks like underneath that fat he might have a bit more muscle than the average schmoe who doesn’t workout at all. That’s not saying much.

I’d say that people on T-Nation are probably more open to giving respect to a heavier guy working hard to build a respectable physique through odd training methods than any other group on the internet.

Unfortunately, the guy in this video isn’t really possessing any of those characteristics. He’s just a fat guy who lifted a sewer grate over his head and rants about people using split training.

I like this guy’s idea of having a different training philosophy than the masses, but his attitude is extremely close minded. He may not realize it, but he’s turning a lot of people off to even listening to his ideas by putting down the ideas of the majority of people that may even be interested in watching the video in the first place.

Honestly though, training outside with parts from a dump like a poor strongman, with no obvious loading, rest, or even volume progression makes no sense.

Seems to me, that if he was really serious about lifting extremely heavy odd balanced objects he would use something like so:

http://www.torqueathletic.com/product.php?deptid=3&catid=69&subcatid=128&pid=5203&r=-26288

Or a sandbag or such?

I would rather train like him then be you everyday bench and bicep boy.

His delivery might be kind of cheesy, but it shouldn’t take away from the overall message.

That said, his way isn’t the best way and neither is ours. You need to take a little bit from everything if you want to be well-rounded.

Looks like an overwhelming majority of us are pussies because of the way we train.

hahahaha that shit is hilarious man…this guy cant be serious…he should sell t-shirts that say…“DONT BE A PUSSY…LIFT SEWER GRATES!”

wow, i hope people dont really take his advice…plus he’s fat.

honestly you picked it up wrong. he was preaching that the majority of idiots in the gym are pussies and hes right. How many geeks have you seen in theg gym compared to porper knowledgable hardcore lifters? theres way more geeks doing gay pansy ass’d movements. THEy are the people he is talking about, hence the reason why he said “toe isolation” or somthing like that.

last time i cheacked people who avoid compound movements are classified as pussies on this sight? skinny 16 year olds who post abb shots and preach curl their way to 150 pounds get abuse here on T-Nation, this guy should be more respected, regardless of the fact that he is fat. He is pretty damn built

this sight confuses the fuckin hell outa me.

Metrosexuals posing their abs get abuse and rightly so. But then on comes a t-man with the right attitude and he gets shit as well

wtf?
Whats really annoying is if you object to some moron who is not even in shape, but just “BIG,” then you automatically favor “metrosexual pussy faggots…blah blah.”

Anyway, all I was saying was the guy is funny. And yes I think he is a fat loppy fuck. I would NEVER EVER want to look like that. If i had to pick between his physique and a “metrosexual faggot pussy abercrombie loser sixpack” (IF I COULD ONLY PICK OUT OF THE 2) id pick the latter.

“Yeah man, I have huge shoulders, a decent chest, big arms…and a fat ass distended gut…heart disease…HERE I COME!”

No thanks. Ill stick to a solid routine with plenty of compound movements and let this guy and his beer gut pick up sewer grates.
Irish Muscle wrote:

he was claiming that the only way to gain sufficient size was through full body workouts. and hes right.
He’s right? Since when? Unless I am doing “full body workouts” I can’t gain “sufficient size”? WTF?
I think its safe to say that the majority of people on this site dont do a heck of alot of isolation work. From looking at the responses on physique and performance photos the main advice is “eat big and lift heavy compound movements” which is pretty much in agreement with the guy in the vid.
Then you’re a dumbass. I do a lot of isolation work and have never been in support of recommending “full body workouts” to everyone logging in. Most of the larger guys on this forum built themselves up using body part splits for several years. If you didn’t know this, what threads have you been reading?

Which muscles are “unimportant”? Why would you disrespect someone because they use isolation exercises?

I could care less about the guy in that video. Your posts here are enough to debate on alone. Then again, I am not sure this much bullshit can be covered in only one thread.

Some of you guys are the most delusional and gullible people I’ve ever met.

“The Be Tougher muscle and power exercises…”

Shit, where do I sign up?

i learned to be more open minded and adventurous about training. He basically made it clear, “lift something heavy and grow” But more importantly, i learned how to “be tougher”…

probably. but the underlieing message that your missing is that weight is weight. you dont need ivanko plates to get big.

He has some size to him but he would look better and probably feel better and healthier if he lost his beer belly.

what about andy bolton? he has a fat stomache, are you going to tell him to lose his gut? I think your missing the point that this guy in the video isn’t trying to have nice abs. He wants to be strong.
He didn’t impress me as remarkably strong. Maybe he is but he didn’t prove it by pressing a sewer grate over his head. I have done that myself while goofing around.

I hate it when the authors here make that claim.

alright.

I thought the video was a funny vid from a guy who has gone the dinosaur route but hasn’t got much to add.

I find the people defending him here scary, not funny

Aye, it’s a bit odd defending a totally haphazard, unscientific strength building routine.

If someone said that they were training tough and by this they meant wondering around a gym, lifting random weights in a completely unplanned way, everyone would flip out and take the piss. But it’s basically the same thing.

I love wondering around picking up random heavy objects, but it would be a completely haphazard way to train.

His man tits and Benjamin Franklin bi-focals totally define “tough”. Yeah, sewer grate for 8 reps? Look at this “pussy” as he calls people who go to the gym…

Totally amazing. Love watching Ronnie workout.

Yup, the guy was a douce bag and his defenders are idiots. It just shows they are ignorant and weak. Some people are impressed with lifting a sewer grate? How much is that… 80 lbs. or so? Wow.
Irish Muscle wrote:

how else would you gain size? If you are a beginner trying to gain some serious mass, what do you do? Preacher curls?.. Leg extensions supersetted with tricep kick backs?

OR…do you do squats, deadlifts, weighted dips, shoulder press’s, bench press’s, straightbar curls, power cleans, close grip benchs or skull crushers?
Dipshit. You do them all. Anyone making it seem like it is either or is either really stupid or really trying to get your money.
The latter Prof, is what you call compound moves. The money moves, the proper shit, moves that require more than one or two measly “muskuls”,…moves that use the entire body to perform the exercise. Proper peformance training.

I have no respect for some one who trains like a girl in the squat rack tricep kick backin to failure, regardless of how big they get from flukey genetics.
Triceps kickbacks are now “training like a girl”? I had no clue you were this stupid. Thanks for the lesson.
I think many people would agree that full body moves using the compound lifts are the ONLY way to get big.
If “many people” believe this, then “many people” are pretty much as dumb as you seem to be.

Perhaps I missed a golden nugget of truth in the rest of that ramble, but I doubt it.

hahahahahahahahahaha. That has to be the funniest shit Ive read since being here.

I thought I would like this site for the workout tips, but the debates about stupid videos are even funnier.

Is this guy working out? Yes
Does he look stronger than the AVG joe? Yes.
Is this a stupid video? Yes

WTF did he teach you? If one more person says that you can walk around lifting heavy objects I’m going to smack myself. You guys really didn’t know you can do this before the video?

The best post was the first one, is he seriuos?

As to avoid a generalization, it seems to me that some people here are perhaps missing the real point of his video.

Be tough.

I don’t think you are accomplishing that running your mouth about how fat he is or how he doesn’t look tough and strong. Ignore him, take his principles.

As per him breathing heavy from just talking, maybe he just lifted a F-650 for 12 reps, who knows.
