Hey guys…long time reader, third time poster… I frequent the gym about 4-5 times a week… body part split…45mins to 1hour MAX in and OUT! …but i notice quit a few guys (friends and associates)who are in there for 2-3 hours DAILY! …and i would think its insane but theyre seeing results…is this just genetics or are they on to something?..everything ive read on this website and a few things elsewhere, says that your gains will come to a SCREECHING HALT!..so what the hell is going on?
and yes, im aware of how to use the search option…
and yes i am seeing results but im just curious on how theyre seeing them too…
Powerlifters have a Sheiko program which calls for long sessions in the gym. It seems there are both costs and benefits in a long training session, depending on how it is integrated into the overall program.
i have been training about 90minutes 4-5 times a week for the last couple months. I have never been able to put on size until i started training this way. anytime i would bulk before, it was mainly fat gains, but now i seem to be putting on far more muscle mass training at longer periods
Is it wise to do 90+ minutes of training and then do cardio right after? i see a lot of people training for hours and then doing a fair amount of cardio afterwards too… Doesnt excessive training lead to negative effects on gains? I know one of the authors here (cant site the source)…said that “youre never over training until youre throwing up” or something along those lines…So, can i really train for 2-3 hours a day?
When you have a large group of guys all doing the same exercises, a squat workout can take up to 3 hours. IMO, its more important to get quality work done in the gym rather than worrying about how fast you do it.
If your training with some real intensity I don’t see how you could lift “2-3 hours”… maybe if your fucking off and taking 5 minutes between sets you could.

I agree with this for the most part. I don’t see how anyone would be able to lift balls to the wall for more than 1.5hours, maybe 2 hours max. 3 is just fuckin ridiculous. Obviously i’m talking about in one straight session. The gains from the training time differ from person to person.
The diet is a big part of it too. If my diet was shit that day, I can’t lift with high intensity for more than 30mins. That being said, i’ve found that I benefit from 1hr to a max of 1.5hrs the most.

There’s an Olympian who trains at my training hall. Came 4th in Beijing. Trains 2 hours, twice a day. The sessions are very intense. I don’t think you can make a blanket statement like that.

Bullshit.
Links? You should be able to list a lot, if ‘everything’ on this website says your gains will come to a SCREECHING HALT if you train over an hour. Lets see some.
