Confused About Fat Loss

This is hillarious… yesterday morning i was almost 190. last night i was 196. It really depends on how much sleep i get…

Nope, that’s not a game you want to start playing, PC. It might be interesting to jump on the scale to see what you weigh different times of day, but the only number that COUNTS is Friday morning, out of bed, after you hit the restroom!!!

Im 187.5 and my waist is the same as last week.

Using the Outcome Based Decision Making you always hear me talking about, you’re down 1 pound, which means you need to increase carbs (probably starchy) by 60g a day over what you’ve BEEN eating.

Are you enjoying your summer? (grin)

Im already getting 4200-4700 calories a day, i guess nto enough of it is from starch. Ill gladly eat more, though!

my summer is pretty damn average right now… what about yours?

PC

When you live in Florida, my Summers tend to be an awful lot like Spring, Fall and Winter.

We’re in the middle of the hurricane season, though, so this is one of the more INTERESTING times of the year. Believe me, “average” can be highly UNDER-rated! (grin)

Sorry i didnt see your last post, stupid T-Nation never emails me about it anymore.

This morning im 191, and my waist is 34.75".

Kind of odd, I think. I feel kind of baloted so ill weihgh again tomorrow morning.

PC

That’s cool, PC!!!

Using your 6/22 numbers of 188.5 and 34.5", that means you’re up a quarter inch on the waist and within a half pound of where you should be weight-wise.

Looks like you bulk with as much precision as you cut. (grin)

Im late replying, but yesterday i was a little over 191, and my waist stayed the same size.

Are you going to be increasing carbs a bit? Actually, I wouldn’t mind if you made your increases in the form of some more chocolate milk during the first half of the day.

Why don’t you give me a basic outline of what i should be eating when, and ill see how close to that im getting.

(laughing)

Could I make you a counter offer? Let me know how many grams of P, F and C you’re taking in and a sample of what you’re eating, and I’ll make recommendations. This week or next, whichever works best.

The only reason I asked is that if you are bulking but the scale doesn’t go up, then you need to increase calories. If you’re at 1g or so of protein per pound of body weight and 0.5g of fat per pound of body weight, I prefer to increase carbs.

If you’re overly full and having trouble increasing your calories, you need to reduce the amount of fiber-containing carbs (fruit, beans, veggies) and increase your starchy carbs.

Weight: 193
Waist: 35

Am i still on par?

Ive learned a few things since ive started weight training (although its a lifestyle for me now)…

Number one: Growth comes in spurts. I can go 3 weeks or more and not gain a pound, then i look and i go up 5 pounds in a week.

Number two: Numbers come in spurts. Today i was doing my chin ups with a 45 pound plate, and i was curling the 70 lb dumbells, although it was only for 4 (strict) reps. This to me was so unheard of last month.

I need to be more paitent. When something isnt working, it isnt always my fault, i just need to give it some time…

TAMPA-TERRY - WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!? (laughing)

PC

Just call me Tampa “MIA” Terry!!! (grin)

Boy, it sounds like you’re making some nice progress on your lifts, PC!

And yes, you are very nicely on track. Your body sounds like it is responding well to the food and all the many ways in which you are providing a “stimulus for growth”!!!

One things’s fershure, I don’t want to get into a deadlifting contest with you. (grin)

Tampa Terry, its been a while. I wanted to take a break from all t he measuring, and posting, because i was starting to get fusturated with not gaining noticable weight week-to-week (although i know better than that anyway)

I have been eating, and lifting just as good as i always have. This morning i was 200 exactly, and my waist is 35.5 (or close to it) inches.

My strength is still going up at the same steady rate and although im not a big fan of not having abs, i can live with it knowing that next yesr im gonna do things better, and more efficently, and, im gonna actually listen to you and stay in maitenence until about august. There are a few mistakes i know i made this time around, but hey, who don’t make mistakes the first time? (laughing) i hope you got that one.

Later for now, PC

200 does have a nice ring to it. (grin)

Thanks for the update, PC!!!

If you go back through your log, waist size isn’t up by that much. You’re putting on muscle and increasing strength. All around, I’d say you’ve got a successful bulk going!!!

Keep up the good work!!!

There are ten things you need to do to lose weight effectively, most people sabotage themselves by only doing two or three.

Food (Quantity, quality, timing, protein, water, supplements, tracking)
Workout (Lift weights, cardio)
Measurement (weight/bodyfat)

I’ve actually been writing a short booklet on what I’ve learned, feel free to PM me if you’d like a copy.

so, TT… everything has been going fairly well lately. I weigh in at 204-5 now, and i also had a goal, and that was to bench 300 before october (october being my 2 year “anniversary”). I can see from tonights workout that im gonna totally smash that goal and probably hit over 300 by the middle of next month. So thats cool. When i hit 3 plates, im gonna get a video of it… Before christmas id say

Hows everything with you?
