Hey everyone at T-Nation,
Just wanted to share some info that hopefully at least 1 or 2 of you will find interesting. I currently got the approval from my university (Benedictine outside Chicago) to explore the wonderful supplement creatine. I’ll be primarily focusing on gene expression within Drosophila using DNA Microarray.
I’m looking forward to the study since most universities in the Midwest don’t have the technology to do this. For you nerds out there so far I’ve been extracting RNA using TRIzol protocols (which isn’t my favorite since RNA degrades so easily) and testing ethanol to work out any kinks and making sure the appropriate genes are turned on and off.
Not to many studies have looked at gene expression with creatine (so with a little luck I can get this study published). Some researchers have used it with the combination of other drugs such as tacrine and moclobeminde and have seen some good results in help fighting genetic disorders such as Huntington’s disease within mice.
For a really good dumbed down version of what I’m doing go here

I’ll keep this updated. Its going to take some considerable time create these trials before I can even think about analyzing.
Also if you guys have any good information send it my way (peer reviewed journals preferred) :+)
