big day out in melbourne, for those who dont know its a massive festival pretty much this year rage against the machine was head lining
tonight had dizzee rascal, fucking sick still amped from the show at 1.30am
i feel i’ve been pretty lucky with concerts/gigs i’ve been too, only one i can say i was disappointed with robbie williams and that was more due to the fact the crowd wasnt getting into it
ive only been going to gigs for about a year or two so far i’ve seen
john legend, common, jay-z, ne-yo(surprisingly good, can dance very well and voice is phenomenal), rhianna(was shit), robbie williams, scribe and talib kweli, ice cube, at big day out saw( muph and plutonic, silverchair, hill top hoods, rage against the machine, bjork, regurgitator, nightwatchman and billy bragg) and finally kanye west
top 3 would have to be rage against the machine(the whole ground was shaking with about 45,000 people jumping around), common and jay z
who have you seen in concert? and what would you say is the worst and best concerts you have seen?
One of the best live performances I can recall was seeing the Smashing Pumpkins, in I believe 94, when they headlined that years Lollapalooza tour. Billy Corgan was ripping the dog snot out of his guitar and seeing Rocket and Cherub Rock live were kick ass.
The other was U2’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb in 05. Simply put the best concert I’ve seen. The energy, the music, the whole experience, was awesome. I enjoyed every second of it.
Other notables have been George Thorogood back in the eighties, Aerosmith also back in the eighties, and Joe Satriani in Hawaii back in 92. Many others I’m forgetting.
Saw Incubus and Silverchair last year; Silverchair being my all time favourite band took second place to the Incubus gig - they are phenomenal live IMO.
The second Lollapalooza was one of my best concerts back in 1992.
Main Stage: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush
However my all time top show was Chili Peppers (Blood Sugar Sex Magic), Smashing Pumpkings (Gish) and Pearl Jam (Ten). Which I belive was in 91.
I guess the best concert for me was also the first concert I ever went to. It was Joe Cocker at the Fillmore East in NYC. And yeah, it was 1970, I was a kid in high school.

When you said how far back I thought you were going to say old leadbelly. I figured you were gonna say Joplin, Hendrix, or The Flying Burrito Brothers, so Cocker isn’t to far off the mark. Belushi did a mean Joe Cocker.

Wise ass kid! Here’s John and Joe together on SNL in 1976
Duran Duran was actually a pretty awesome concert. By far the best sounding show I’ve ever been to.
Type o Negative is great just for the comedic value. Peter is bound to mention a story about taking a shit, Kenny being gay, of Josh’s super-jew powers.
I also act like little girl at Rush shows because they kick that much ass.

Journey and Def Leppard '06 - Burgettstown, PA
A Perfect Circle '05 - Cleveland, OH

Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock '99 - Pittsburgh, PA

Lamb of God and Chimaira '03 - Pittsburgh, PA
Worst:
New Kids on the Block '90 - Burgettstown, PA; I went with my mom and a female cousin. I was 8.

You give me reason to live.
I only wish that I could say I’ve seen Joe Cocker. A couple of years ago, I went to see Soil and Breaking Benjamin. Not sure if I’d say it was the best but it was my first introduction to a mosh pit. I can say that I’ll never forget it. Colin James was actually really, really good and Jeff Healey was too, as well as being a super nice guy. I think I’m showing my age now.

Now that was an awesome show.
Iron Maiden - Caught Somewhere in Time
Bela Fleck and the Fleck tones
Any Rush show
Duran Duran - 7 and the Ragged Tiger
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien
U2 and Rage Against the Machine tour
Crosby, Stills & Nash
Tool - Aenema
Grateful Dead
The Cult
Big Wreck
Days of the New…
And on, and on, and on,
Man… there are sooo many, and for the majority of them I was sooo wasted.
-Rage Against The Machine, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, The Roots, Mos Def, etc. (Rock The Bells Tour), McCovey Cove, San Francisco
-Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oracle Arena, Oakland (gigantic hotbox)
-Andrew W.K., Slim’s, San Francisco (got up on stage and got on the mic with AWK…no story was cooler than this when I was 16)
-The Living End (unbelievable)/Jet (pretty good show)/The Vines (teh suck), Aussie Invasion Tour, The Warfield, San Francisco
-The Hives, The Warfield, San Francisco
-Foo Fighters/Weezer, Oracle Arena, Oakland
And I know there’s been more, but these stood out to me. I’m also seeing Avenged Sevenfold in April at San Jose State, just missed out on seeing them when I was at university in Indiana last semester. Juiced for that one.

same thing with me, only it was in the parking lot behind mccovey cove at the san francisco giants’ stadium, and it was more like 70,000 people. and then every single one mobbed the streets to get to MUNI and BART (public transportation), holding up streets upon streets of traffic. then the riots started. best going away to college experience ever.
Best concert ever for me was the I believe 2002-2003 Family Values tour. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube, Ramstein and someone else. Freaking bad ass!! Ramstein puts on an insaine show, totally worth the money even if you don’t speak German.
Metallica Black tour was also an amazing show.
Can’t forget about Oz fest 2004ish when Sabbith was back together, Limp Bizkit and TOOL. I had 11th row seats, sat beind the drummer from Limp Bizkits folks.

I saw Jeff Healey back in the late 80’s at some small place in Toronto, it was upstairs over a restaurant, I think. I wanted to ask him why he plays his guitar flat on his lap, but never got to talk to him. If you know the story, PM me. I never saw anybody’s fingers move like that.
