Concerned About Xenoestrogens

Ok so I just got done reading the 2008 Alphabet of Manliness and it talks about Xenoestrogens from plastic and how they get released when you heat up tupperware. Now im freaked out because for the past year year and a half I have taken a large portion of oatmeal to work to eat at my first break,And I fill it up with hot water from the water cooler and the waters fucking hot as shit,is this something I should worry about or what.Fuck estrogen I want nothing to do with it.

I stopped cooking in plastic b/c I didn’t want to take a risk of having xenoestrogens leached into my food.

Yes i’m not happy about this but what is the alternative?

Same here. Or take your food to work in a plastic container, but also take a regular old plate from home and cook in that. wash it in the sink when you are done. I use the same bowl for 15 meals of my week.

If I run out of glass storage containers when I am cooking my food for the week, I let my food cool down to room temperature either in the pot or in a glass bowl and then put it in plastic cotainers. Hope this is acceptable.

That even might be taking it a little too far, but there’s no harm in that. Really there is probably nothing to worry about unless you’re using plastic frequently for years on end.

Anyone knopw of any tupperware-type thing that isn’t plastic then? Cos i go to work with a backpack, on a bus, and a glass dish will end up all over the inside of my bag

I have Pyrex containers with rubber lids. Work great, never spill. Take off the top and they can go in the microwave or oven.
