I am a competitive track and field runner, who run about 40-60 high-intensity miles per week. I have been doing this for about 18 years now, and I have founfd myself to be stuck in a rut. I have refined my diet to a 40/30/30 split, and I am currently consuming 4400 calories per day. I am 6’4", and I am 182lbs, with 8% BF. My question is, will cycling Mag-10/Tribex/Methoxy benefit my running? Do I do too much cardio and will it be pointless? I am not worried about putting on pounds or muscle mass, but I desparately need to increase my strength and power. I lift 5 days per week, and I need to get “un-stuck” and break through my current performance level. I have tried creatine/glutamine and extra protien and have not had the greatest results. I am willing to do whatever it takes (legally) and I am not worried about the cost so… Please help. I really need to break through this barrier. Thanks for your help!
You are doing way too much. 2-3 days in the gym should be plenty. What is your routine? Try cutting back in the gym, and upping your protein before you hit the supplements.
I suggest an 8 week cycle of 4-AD-EC. You will get more from it.
Yikes, dude. You want to increase strength and power, yet you’re in the gym 5-days a week? On top of track and field training?
Cut down your weight training days. I might even go so far as just not weight training for a week. Seriously. Take a break. When was the last time you took a break from ANY type of training?
Then consider the 5x5 program. Just 3-days a week of weight training. That'll boost your strength and power.
I just came off of a two week break from all training. I am well rested, and ready to go. I will cut back the weigth training, but what about the question regarding the Mag-10 and performance increases?
Thanks
I have not used Mag-10, but I have heard enough good things that I am sure its works. If I remember correctly, there is no need to stack Mag-10 with Tribex(not sure about the Methoxy, but I think it would be better if you used it after the Mag-10, and stacked it with the Tribex). The Tribex should be used after your Mag-10 cycle and stacked with M or Vitex. Mag-10 is an expensive supplement however, and if your diet and workout routine are not in order you might as well dump it into the crapper. I would try the 5X5 routine also. My strength went up considerably during that program, with no supplements.
Patricia: you seem to be extremely knowledgable and I thankyou for your help. I amcurious though, if the Mag-10 would help me or not, or if I am better off with a Tribex/Methoxy cycle, or a 4AD-EC cycle… What do you think?
Wow, thanks Jason.
Well, I've never tried Mag-10, Tribex, or 4-AD-EC. As for Methoxy-7 - if your goal is to maintain LBM, as you lose bodyfat, than that would be the supplement for you. I don't think that's your goal, however. The differences are that Mag-10 combines both A1-E and 4-AD-EC. You would take Mag-10 for 2-week or 8-week cycles. It is more expensive than 4-AD-EC (for obvious reasons). BUT, it is effective! You can just go on the Biotest site and read the info available for either products. Oh, either of these supplements have been the topic of threads on the forum (you can do a search).
It all really boils down to you, and what YOU want to accomplish. First of all, I would rethink your training. AND get Surge. I can't say enough good things about Surge! As I suggested above, read up on the differences between 4-AD-EC and Mag-10. What Ko suggested may just work for you.
You may want to try a longer cycle with the 4 AD-EC if it is feasable for you. Also check your sactioning body to find out if it is a legal substance or not. If you are going to be subjecting yourself to a very intensive “Hell Week” style of trainign for a short period of time, then Mag-10 would be great for you. If you are not allowed to use androgens, the Tribex, M, and Methoxy seven can be used for longer periods of time. Also, make sure you get s really good multi vitamin and anti-oxidant especially if your running. Just my .02cents…
Whoa, instead of just what “stuff you can take” (supplements), let’s take a more basic look at your training. At 40-60 miles a week, your average running is 6-9 miles a day. That is a lot of stress already on your body. I doubt you’ll ever be able to improve your muscularity until you cut down on your running. It’s all a balance of what you want, though. To answer your question, yes, I believe that you’re doing way too much cardio to grow mass, and you’d be wasting any attempt at anabolic support.
I am not trying to gain mass… I am trying to gain strength and power. I do not need to get any bigger, just stronger…
