can you wear briefs when competing raw? im not talking about the power briefs or power pants that come up to mid stomach and as low as mid thigh. an example, inzer’s groove briefs, can you wear them in competition?
Check your federation’s rules. In the USAPL that would be a no.
what if its not clearly stated?
generally as a rule of thumb, “RAW” = belt, wrist wraps, and knee sleeves (commercial)
What federation is it? I don’t think many allow briefs raw, if any at all. SSA might…
Shit, I need to find me some of these feds that let you wear briefs in a raw competition.
SSA allows champion/z suit in the “standard” division, no briefs unless you’re equipped.
the rules say briefs are allowed so long as they are not power pants (briefs that go above the mid stomach and below mid thigh), and it does not specify if thats alright for raw. my reasoning is that you dont really get much out of them, i just like them for my hips because they keep my hips tight. not trying to blatantly break a rule, but can you even tell if your wearing briefs in a raw competition?
When you do your equipment check, you will have to show the ref everything you are using, and probably declare raw/equipped. If you then use something you didn’t have approved by the ref, you’re cheating.
briefs=equipped. They dont have divisions for tight bench shirts vs. loose shirts either…
I don’t think OP understands the difference between raw and equipped. EQUIPPED means you wear EQUIPMENT. Raw means you don’t. I know the APF and SPF aren’t even letting people wear wraps raw anymore.
usually raw is just a singlet and belt and wraps dude
I’v got a pair of loose Ace briefs. Maybe I can wear them in a raw meet. I don’t feel like I get a lot out of them. Just a 100 or so lbs.

Could you clarify that part about the SPF and not wearing wraps?!?

I know the APF already does this, don’t think SPF has yet, but I heard at the last SPF meet that they were about to make the move. Could be wrong, though. Should have clarified.

Yeah, if anyone knows anything official on this I’d like to know.

Sorry I alarmed everyone. Wraps are allowed for now, but from what I understand, SPF is moving with APF in just wraps/belt being called the Classic division.
