The single greatest Thor line, ever

old school comic Satana[/quote]

I actually have an unpublished Satana comic by Ariel Oliveti that Marvel scrapped because it was too Hard core at the time.

I still reread Kingdom Come either the comic or the novel adaptation once a year.

It’s a good book. The only thing I didn’t like was how they depicted the relationship between Superman and Wonderwoman. They never slept together. I can’t even imagine what type of kid that would produce.

They did have a kid…at the end of the book, she’s pregnant with Superman’s baby and Batman was the Godfather…DC did a horrible follow-up called Kingdom. Alex Ross protested against it and it bombed.

New Thor series

Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth

My favorite comic ever. I have a 1st print hard back signed in a silver paint pen by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean.

Like someone mentioned with Kingdom Come, I read it at least once a year.

Nah, I meant they never slept together in any other graphic novel I can think of. I think Kingdom Come is a work of art. I just felt they ran out of innovative ways to end the story.

I love Arkham Asylum. I have the 25th birthday edition with the original script of Grant Morrison in it. It’s very interesting to compare the script to the final work of Dave McKean and it also explains a lot of the symbolism used in AA.

Besides that one, I’m very into Batman, but I feel like there’s so much crap nowadays. I can’t stand all the sidekicks and I swear by Batman: year one, The Long Halloween and Dark Victory.

Furthermore I definitely recommend Blacksad, which is drawn beautifully, to any comic-lover. But given that it’s a european comic, I don’t know how well distributed these comics are in the US. These are film-noirlike detective- stories set in the 1950s. The characters are all drawn as animals but they do behave as human beings.

And a pretty intense Hulk vs Wolverine picture, just for fun.

One of my favorites is the death of Jean Grey on the moon

It wasn’t like Superman didn’t try. I like in the New Frontier DVD how they make her taller than him

True but I do have a JLA where she hooked up with Batman…it was a single issue but it was an interesting take on the two of them.

Besides Batman, I’m not a big fan of anything by D.C.

Daredevil is my favorite.

You may need to give some of the newer Batman/Superman team ups a try. They tend to be pretty good. I bought that Justice League New Frontier DVD and that made me really like The Greenlantern.

I do agree that Marvel is usually a step ahead when it comes to catering to adults. The Supreme Power series is just plain old bad ass. They don’t pull punches. The only thing they don’t do is use cuss words in print (instead, they use the usual “*#@!”). They won’t hesitate to show a young girl in Darfur pull out a machete and cut the head off of the Janjaweed who just raped her.

If anyone hasn’t checked them out yet, you are missing out. Nighthawk, needless to say, is my favorite.

Uncanny X-men 282

My first comic book.

Bishop was a badass.

My brother used to quote the Greenlantern poem or saying whatever it is.

weren’t they going to do a white tiger and black panther movies?

Now Bishop is a horrible character IMO.

Speaking of Bishop.

Age of Apocalypse was a great story arc. I thought they way they did Jean and Wolverine as well as finally making Iceman the badass he had the potential to be.
