How do you guys combat cravings? I tend to eat well all day, then gorge like a pig at night. Im making solid gains in the weight room, but still getting fatter because of my lack of willpower (my nightly pot smoking just might have something to do with it.) What do you do to combat cravings? BTW, I like to follow a moderate carb diet (sub 60g.)
Dude, you simply cannot stay on a disciplined diet if you keep impairing your judgement with drugs. It’s also really dumb for someone that works out seriously to take a drug known to reduce your lung capacity and slow your reactions. That’s not just counterproductive, it’s dangerous.
Standard, non-herbal cravings usually only last about twenty to thirty seconds, so you can ride them out and go on with your life. Those that last longer are usually alerts to a vitamin or nutrient deficiency, which may or may not be intentional.

Listen man I am the last person to judge somebody for smoking pot. But your on a hardcore bodybuilding site. So expect to get flamed.
Anyways, back to the question at hand. I don't know if you know this but marijuana has almost the same chemical makeup as estrogen. You know that female hormone that men are supposed to have in very small dosages. And causes you to retain water and fat alot easier.
Your weight gain just might be from primarily higher estrogen levels and secondary pot side effects(munchies).
Okay, maybe now you'll put down the pipe and just concentrate on your lifting and diet.

Don’t listen to these people. Smoking a bowl or a joint now and then is not going to send you’re estrogen through the roof, you’re not gonna grow bitch tits, but you will scare away half the board members here who will think nothing of downing some alcohol but cop attitude with pot. I don’t even smoke anymore but I can relate. I will say if you smoke “a lot” however, it will effect you over the long term. “A lot” meaning that you’re high more than you’re straight.
Let’s see, try drinking more water when you’re high. How about good fats such as nuts or something? Fat free gelatin? Ice cubes? How about low-glycemic fruit such as cherries? Just thinking of some healthy choices for you and try to get rid of any bad snack food you have in the house. If it’s not there, you can’t eat it.
This is exactly why I gave up pot and started using crack…it is a helluva fat loss drug.

Look I hope I did not come off sounding high (no pun intended) and mighty. Plus I don't want to get on Randmans bad side.
People do need a release valve for you its pot, for me it's a six pack of beer once a week on my cheat day.
If you do it now and then I don't see it hindering your progress. Remember moderation.
As far as cravings go some healthy snacks are beef jerky,nuts,sugar free jello or what I do sometimes is put two scoops of Low Carb Grow in a bowl and add a little bit of water to make it thick just like pudding yummy.

ABN, I’m one of those people who believes that there isn’t any such thing as a stupid question. And your question is definitely not stupid. However, the whole pot and munchie thing is really throwing me off, mostly because if you know smoking pot causes the munchies and causes you to break down and lose control, the choice is simple: Either eliminate the cause of the problem or live with the effects.
I tell you what; I’ll make you a deal. If you ever get serious and give up the pot, I’ll pull out every single craving-controlling tool I have in my dietary toolbox and share it with you.
