College life nutrition

I am a almost totally broke college student. Lifting is more fun than anything else here, except watching all of the fine sorority girls walk around in their short skirts and tight shirts when it is about 40 degrees outside. Anyway, I am low on cash and have a hard time getting the right stuff in my garbage disposal unit of a stomach. I have been living off of tuna, eggs, bagels, cereal, and milk. I am looking for some cheap ways of eating alot of the right foods. I going to go by some MRB`s but would like some info on what would be the best.

Rice is great - if you dont mind the carbs. You can buy it in huge bags for next to nothing. Add meat - tons of it. I like a combination of ground beef, chicken, turkey, and pork. Tuna is good as well. If you buy the meat in bulk you will get it cheaper too. Favor with spices. I also add tons of Kraft Free shredded chedder to everything. It’s fat free, and carb free(a few grams maybe). When I’m cutting the carbs I just eat meat and cheese. Do a search here at T-mag for the chanko diet for more information. - Good Luck!

I think cottage cheese with fruit (I usually use apples, walnuts and cinamon) is the cheapest source of protein, gram for gram, except for eggs. Cottage cheese is also good because it requires no cooking.

You could also mix protein powder into oatmeal (I also add nuts and cinamon) and take this with you anywhere and all you have to do is add hotwater and wait a few minutes.

PS: you should probably ditch the bagels and cereal

I would stay with as much as whole food as possible. If you’re really that broke, then I’d say don’t go with the MRB’s. Decent ones are like $2.50, and for that, you can get a bag of rice and eat for a week, or some pasta. Stick with whole foods, keep working out, then start mooching off of these fine sorority women.

I think it was Berardi who told about how he would carry around a bag of bagels with natural PB and a gallon of water with a shit load of protein powder thrown in. This is obviously for someone who needs to gain mass. I disagree that MRPs are a bad choice. You can get a decent MRP for about $1 a serving if you look in the right places.
Even if they were $2.50 it would still be cheaper than two chicken breasts and rice. Of course, you need to eat whole food too.

Whole foods are best, but if you are getting bored, or want ways to get in more protein, you can get good quality protein powders customized to your needs from the protein factory.

i am in the same boat, my wife gives me a small allowance (thank you honey, if you read this) cottage cheese, canned tuna, canned chicken, oatmeal, and the majority of my allowance goes to protein powder. just my personal choice.

MRB-Meal Replacement BARS

It’s true that decent ones are ~$2.50.

MRP wise,u are correct.

You’re right. But why would anyone choose bars over shakes? Shakes are cheaper, taste better, and don’t have as many problems with labeling. Some say they are easier to transport, but that’s crap. Get a good shaker cup and put the powder in the cup. When you want to drink it then just fill it with water and shake.
