What’s with that guy? Forget the fact that I’m on the mock trial and crew team, that I’m heavily involved in community service, that I got here on a scholarship, that I have an MCAT practice book sitting right here on my desk. I must want to leech off society.
Depends on your mentality. Im in college and my roommates are fucking retarded, they drink, do drugs, their lazy, they have no idea what its like to work, and they live off their parents money while complaining about shit all the time. Nothing is wrong with partying, its just that you have to know when to put on your big boy pants and not just be another dumb ass college kid.

X- That fucking avatar is exquisite.

I’ve gone to a good business school and a good medical school and there’s a big difference in how much you need to study. There are a lot of degrees you could get by doing serious work for a few hours a day and spend the rest of your time getting drunk, but anything involving biology won’t make that list.
MilSpec105 wrote:
When i said shit degree. I meant shit as a stand alone undergrad. Get the appropriate follow on degree and your fine. Case in point, another friend, undergrad in business and an MBA. Has a sweet job in NYC.
Yea, and you’d still be wrong. Once you get your entry level job, it doesn’t mean shit past that.

I have a degree in English, and I hardly consider that a “shit degree” standalone or not, and I don’t plan on going for a masters… well, ever.

So fuck off.

I graduated @ 21 for a reason. I didn’t party at all in college, my work was way too demanding. I shoved 5-6 classes in every semester and did summer courses. But what I would go back for is the endless amount of goregous women on campus…wow.

So what awesome job did you get with your English degree that you couldn’t get without it? And to further clarify, i mean shit as a relative term. If English of business or sociology is your thing and you wanted to go get a degree in it, it’s not shit. I mean it as, on the scale from shit to biology or engineering its definitely on one side of the scale, IMHO.

But that is pretty much the extent of time I’m going to put into a degree dick measuring contest. I went to a sweet school, I like my job, make enough money to do the shit I like to do, and my wife has big tits… in the end, thats all that matters. And by the way, how’s my sentence structure?

If you think business is an easy major you should probably have taken some business classes to dispel that thought. Although, I am at a high level school for this major, I have absolutely zero experience with how it is at any other school. Several of my brothers are physics majors and I generally have more work to do and more studying to do. I am not trying to impress you. Just sharing my experience.

edit- nice hair
‘General Business’ is what all the frat guys take at my college (which is a fairly well known business school). They all take it because it’s much easier than a real major.

And don’t give me shit for not taking business classes, since i’m in two right now, and have taken about 8 already. Several of the business classes i’ve taken are hilariously easy. But i will give you that a couple have been difficult.

Also, then response i get when asking what they are going to do with a general business major : “Uh… i dunno nervous laugh” OR “Probably work at my dads dealership” (Don’t understand this one?)

I’m a reporter for one of the biggest papers in the state. It’s a pretty fuckin awesome job, and they wouldn’t have looked at me without that degree.

I suggest if you want to make statements like that, you qualify them. Because calling a degree a “shit” one because you don’t think it’s hard or gets you anywhere is fucking dumb.

Sentence structure is fine homey. It’s the content that’s weak.

There are some weekends when you DO have to be “that guy” staying in while everyone else has fun, goes to the game, etc. The key is to know when those weekends will be coming up, plan for them, and have a good time and do stupid shit when time permits.

Is this really so hard to understand?
I just wanted the words stated. I know kids do read this shit and some of them take it seriously. I have the pms to prove it.
You have pms?

That explains a lot :-)…

I hope they have a good on-line media presence, because the print media is taking it in the shorts.

Which sucks because nothing beats reading the paper with the morning coffee.

Ye ah…nothing except the internet.

I don’t even watch the news much anymore because anything that is really “news” will be on line faster with no filler or attempts at interviewing the most ghetto person in a crowd.

Ahhh… we’re somewhere between the Lusitania and the Titanic at the moment, hoping that we don’t end up like the Indianapolis.

I guess you proved your point. But you gotta admit there are certain degrees that total shitheads can use to float by. I suppose that was more the intent of my post.

A job like that takes credentials and straight up talent. Mine takes a bottomless defense budget and continuous nonsensical foreign conflict. Talent not required, but is helpful for promotions and specific job placement.

I’m beginning to feel I’m the only blue collar manual labourer on this entire website lol…seriously.

I fucked up by not getting a trade ticket and have no one to blame but myself. College would have been grand it seems.

OP enjoy it while you can but don’t think your shit doesen’t stink because you have a degree

All the people hating on business degrees…Um, please take managerial accounting, business statistics 1&2, corporate tax accouting etc. Only entry level business classes are easy (micro-economics etc). Just because you see a lot of us business majors partying does not mean the shit is easy. It means we are social people and are enjoying our college experience. Just because you need to spend more time studying because youre a bio nerd or a crazy stressed engineering major doesnt give you the right to shit on other majors. Go get laid.

glad to see you back on here man. Been a while.

Honestly, I’ve been down both roads (nursing and business) and nursing required 10x more studying than business. Business is fucking easy (at the online school I’m attending, which is a joke). I never read the book and I bullshit all of my answers.

Having said that nursing wasn’t that bad either. Honestly, there are some people who need to study more than others (obviously). If you are one of the fortunate ones who can skate by without too much studying (me) you can still have a social life and party all the time. I did, but obviously nursing isn’t one of the hardest degrees to get.

I will say this though, if you are in a Math/Science field, and you have to WORK 30+ hours a week, you can’t fucking party all of the time unless your fucking sharp. If you are in a Math/Science field, and your parents are paying your way and you don’t have to work, you can party a lot so long as your aren’t a dumb ass.

What’s so complicated about this? It’s all about priorities.

Priority #1 - Good grades in school
Priority #2 - Having fun, partying, etc. (this would be your job if you are one of those that must work and go to school, and partying would be number three)

As long as #1 is taken care of who the fuck cares if you get shithoused every fucking night. Those of you who don’t have to work and go to school are lucky. Enjoy it.

I have never read so much arrogant bullshit in my life. I love how people love to act as if there is ONE fucking way to success. Some of the richest people in the world don’t even have fucking degrees. Exceptions to the rule? YES. Nonetheless, shows its possible.

I also have zero reason to act biased. I am a finance/bio double major. Yes, bio requires more studying. NO, business is not easy. You idiots saying it is easy then follow that statement up with “I took it online…” Bio and enginnering would be easy as fuck if I took it online for fucksakes.

It’s funny to me that business is getting bashed on when, at least at University of Texas, it is the HARDEST school to get into bar none. My brother got a bachelor in finance from here and is making 60k a year fresh out. No MBA, nothing. Not too bad for a 4 year degree.

People need to realize that degrees and such change as you look at different schools. A business degree from pheonix online isn’t worth shit. One from McCombs, UPenn, Michigan, etc. is…

Suck on that, bitches.

Hey is a degree from the University of Phoenix actually worth anything? A failure friend of mine has been taking online courses and insists that it’s going to count for the same as mine… and I have trouble seeing that.

anyone know?

X2

my first weekend at college a kid on my floor almost died from drinking, the ambulance showed up a couple more times the first month…

The OP sounds like he won’t be at college for long, and if he does make it through, he’ll end up with some shit prize-in-a-cereal-box type degree, complain about how the economy sucks and no one will hire him when he gets out. And the day that he DOES get a job, he’ll show up everyday with the mentality of doing the absolute minimum to keep from getting fired, then he’ll get fired, say that the boss was a biased asshole and end up working at a pac sun clothing store, make it to a managing position and pull $28k a year.

This mentality plagues a majority of our college students. Basically everything that was “cool” was based on drinking…uh, I dare you to fucking grow up? I dare you. You thought it was awesome to see a guy projectile vomit into an elevator? wow dude, wow…

truely pathetic
lol what? I had to stop reading the thread after reading this jealous bullshit.
It’s called engineering, putting in my work now so I can get my degree, have job with a solid salary and party a little more down the road when im in my mid/late 20’s.

The way you described the OP sounds like ANYONE who attends college who parties and studies IS NOT going to make a future for themselves. First off, its his first year of school from what I can remember. How important is your first year when compared to your 3rd and 4th? First year of college is where you have more freedom to go out, party, and learn how to run your life so you can get good grades in your subsequent years.

Okay, now great for you. Seriously. From what I hear Engineering is a difficult major to go through. However not every fucking person on this site is a goddamn engineer. A lot of us have the freedom to go out and party A LOT and STILL get good grades because we work hard and put aside the time to study. Why is that difficult for you to understand? Just because I may not be making as much as an engineer would be when coming out of school doesn’t mean my college years was a failure since I partied more than once a week. Not everyone has the same goals and ambitions. So what if my degree can allow me to go out, have a lot more fun and freedom than yours, and I still can get the job I want when I graduate? Does it make it worse than yours? No.

Stop shitting on everyone else because they were able to go out a lot in college and get good grades but you weren’t because you were stuck inside studying and using your weekends to catch up on sleep. That is no gut-punch towards you, its just the road you choose took which is fine. But let the OP go party ffs.
