Congrats on the 12-0 Spike, long time coming! we’ll see if my damn team can actually show up to a football game on the road and act like they want to win.
Just got back from the Stanford vs Notre Dame game which was very entertaining. Two things jumped out at me, how much talent Notre Dame has but how poorly it is utilized, and how awesome Toby Gerhart is. Gerhart is truly a beast and I think he made an epic final statement for a Heisman bid. His numbers are outstanding, and although he plays on a weak team, he has proven his iron against some of the top teams in the country.

Those were new Nike “Combat” uniforms…I guess they all had a test run. I wonder if all the schools will get like Oregon with 1000 different uniforms.

Not a fan of the Pro Combat uniform that Clemson got. Apparently, whoever did the research on that one missed that we ALWAYS wear orange pants vs. Carolina and we tend to suck in all white.
OSU and FSU’s uniforms looked very sick though.

OU’s combat uniform is actually a stylized throwback uniform from the 1950s. I actually liked them, but seriously doubt we’ll ever see them again due to the thrashing OU got while wearing them.

agreed 100%. I know we were gonna wear white because of being the road team but come on! They could have done much better with our uniforms.
Was happy with the beatdown Bama put on Florida. Not so much the rest of the games.
I guess I was wrong, I had predicted early in this thread Texas vs. Florida for championship. However this should be a great game next month. I predict Texas 17 Alabama 14. Anybody else?

Texas is going to have to play much better to beat Alabama. Nebraska has a good defense, but their offense is horrible. Against OU, they managed just 188 (off the top of my head) total yards and 10 points and that is with Oklahoma giving them 5 extra possessions. Alabama’s defense is as good, if not better than Nebraska’s, and their offense is solid as well.
Another thing that hurts Texas is their lack of a running game. Going up against a defense like Alabama, you have to have balance on offense. Texas won’t win if they can’t run the ball.
On paper Alabama is the better team and should win.
Despite all this, I have a feeling that Texas “uglies” up the game and wins. I’m not sure how they will do it, but they have done it all year.
Now there are so many things that can happen between now and then - kids failing tests, getting in trouble, injuries during practices - but I agree with you at this time that Texas wins.

Yeah…that was too close. I’m glad the defense decided to play. They have been the only consistent thing this year(outside of A&M rivalry game).
I hate the spread offense with a passion…at least for UT. What’s the point of having a group of talented RBs if you’re running the QB all the damn time?? I hope they change to more of a zone-offense…similiar(not exactly) to Broncos at their pinnacle. It would be a plus for the running game and a mobile QB.
McCoy’s replacement(6’5" Garrett Gilbert) is not the runner he is…but is a better passer who is mobile enough in the pocket and for bootlegs…and the OCCASIONAL QB draw/run play. Getting a little side-tracked…but yeah,that was way too close. We can’t play like that against Alabama AND with no running game to balance the offense.
